Re: Stock Market Thread

Forget about Bitcoin, let’s talk about widgets. If your company makes 900 widgets per day, but demand is for 4000 widgets per day, what will happen to the price of said widget? Those are the exact numbers for Bitcoin. 900 are made per day, 4000 are purchased. Now we’ve got IBC Group out of Dubai pl...

And for the record I have bought a small amount of Bitcoin and Ethereum. And I’m certainly interested in crypto funds as they come to market. I just prefer to make those bets myself and not have the companies I invest in expose themselves to such unnecessary risks.

Another thing, the bar is pretty low to attend a virtual conference. So color me unimpressed by the horse shit that Saylor is touting for peddling his Bitcoin strategy.

So Square is taking a beating today despite a really good earnings report. Tesla is down significantly since its Bitcoin buy announcement. Maybe investors aren’t so keen on companies hoarding an asset that really depends on them hoarding to keep the price climbing. Call me old school but I like see...

So in this thread that has a little of many things and much of the discussion revolving around Tesla. I’ve dogged the look of the car in as well as said not really into electric cars in general. Well, just took a peak at the new Audi RS E-Tron GT. Now that is a sharp looking vehicle IMO. I’m intrig...

Re: Stock Market Thread

MicroStrategy has had two recent debt offerings to raise capital to buy Bitcoin. That is the kind of action that really could tank markets if it becomes more than an isolated thing.

Re: Stock Market Thread

Michael Saylor bought a $Billion worth of Bitcoin today. Total holdings for Microstrategy up to $2.17B! I would never in a million years invest in that company. I think anyone that would is retarded. Basically he is declaring his business offers nothing so he is turning it into a Bitcoin holder. If...

How do you think highway money is doled out? Would it make you feel better if they gave the money to Kansas because their government has shrunk their budget so much they can't take care of their roads? This is money to put people to work. Would I like it spent better? You bet but I will argue less ...

Re: Stock Market Thread

I agree with Dan. There is a good argument maybe for putting aside a portion of cash into other assets including cyrpto as a hedge. But the optics of this are very poor for Tesla. They took advantage of their elevated stock price to raise capital only to gamble a chunk of it into a speculative and e...

FWIW tech industry is so highly competitive for skilled workers you can get a lot of concessions in negotiated offers. I nearly took an offer from another company about 18 months ago. This can be a bit misleading. Depends on what they are paying and where they are at in relation to the competition’s pay scale. Just a reminder it is some percentage of $19,500. Most companies match like 3-5% which is peanuts! 5% is $975. I don’t know how many people max out their 401Ks. Probably s...

This is data on what the average 401k match contribute is: Average employer contribution: $4,040 Probably the best feature of 401(k) plans is the employer contribution — aka free money — typically provided by matching a portion of what employees save. Employers contribute $4,040 a year on average, a...

Re: JJ Watt to be released

Are you sure about that? I thought we had one too many last season. This is all part of Tomlin's master plan to restore the sanctity of the fullback position, and the youngest Watt shall soon join the exalted ranks of such giants of the gridiron as Carey Davis, Dan Kreider, and Jon Witman. Yup. Not...

Good to see 71 and 87 spearheading a win. We've been getting decent scoring from other players to this point, but if this is going to be a good team this year, the big guns need to be showing up on the score sheet. I've been pretty doom and gloom on Geno so far, hopefully this is a portent of thing...

How about a pass rush with dueling Watts on either side? You can never have too many Watts.

I’m not sure if I would classify “white grievances” as identity politics. I don’t think being white and aggrieved is something the GOP has cornered, although that has somewhat fueled the populist movement and trumpism. But I don’t think those groups overwhelmingly skew Republican with 80%+ support l...
