He's saying the right things, which is a bit of a change. Will he be smart enough not to become a Claypool or JJSS. https://steelersdepot.com/2024/05/steelers-wr-roman-wilson-loves-blocking-knocking-their-ass-on-the-ground-is-one-of-the-best-feelings-you-can-have/ I think JJSS would always block, h...

Arthur Smith runs an offense that would be at home in the 90's. Tomlin needs to do nothing to "bring it back"

Re: Noteable stats
I don’t like that definition of loaded box; sure, 7 in the box against a 3 WR set is fairly loaded, but 7 jn the box against 2 or 3 TE or FB looks is a soft front. I’m sure SF ran against 7 in the box a lot, but they used heavy personnel more than other teams, so that doesn’t say much. The Falcons ...

How deep is the Dl and WR and Cb draft Preliminary take: QBs and RBs are going to be legendarily deep. TE probably good also. Don't have a feel for WR/CB yet. DL was pretty deep this year, but only 3-4 real outlier talents. I would suspect next year might be similar. Next year is much better for DT...

Saw an interesting article that the Steelers are following what the Eagles do for UDFA which is not sign many. https://www.steelernation.com/2024/05/02/steelers-likely-eagles-strategy "It's the smallest undrafted group I have ever been a part of. I can’t get over that most Furians still pick Payton Wilson! He must be the second coming of Lambert! Good sign I hope. Thought he would have dropped off the hindsight view because of medical concerns. Medical concerns and age but unanimous All-American. He also earned ACC Defensive Player of the Y...

Re: Bmac launched a rumor a playmaker in the works
In the Roethlisberger era: I think the Steelers often got there guy in the first and kinda punted in the 2nd and 3rd If I was running a draft room I would tend to think 1 2 and 3 I really need to hit on in some manner. BPA or great football player who fills need either one but they gotta be a great...

Re: Bmac launched a rumor a playmaker in the works
The two biggest changes I've seen with Khan/Weidl/Tomlin compared to Tomlin/Colbert: *We seem to be drafting much more from an overall consensus top board which is leading to great value picks. I think Colbert was more old school in trusting his instincts and trusting his scouts, and probably more ...

He is an inch taller than DJ who played on the outside. Has a better 3-cone than DJ. Is faster than DJ. I think he will be fine.

Re: Brian Baldinger likes our draft.
While I enjoy the draft process I ignore the post-draft grades. They are meaningless. Done by draftniks for draftniks to get clicks. They will say "we are judging the value they got." Really? I am a strong believer that the draft sets the value. I might have had Van Pran as the 3rd highest center an...

Re: Pick 3.84 Michigan WR Roman Wilson
Nice write-up Scunge. I just don't know why Roman has to be limited to just slot duties. I get he doesn't have ideal size, but I've seen him work the outside against man and do it quite well. He's a good route runner and that 4.39 speed comes out especially when he is accelerating through breaks an...

Steelers always claim they take the highest guy on their board. If it's true, it's because they weight certain guys higher based on need already. Tomlin is saying that this guy is a tackle in their eyes. No move inside planned. Even if it became apparent one was necessary, I trust this coaching sta...

Re: Perfect Draft Scenarios
If you trade down more than a spot or two there’s a pretty realistic chance you lose Barton. DAL, DET, PHI, LAR all in the C starter market. I agree. It'd just have to be a spot or two, maybe something with Philly since we just did some business with them. I think there's a better chance a tackle d...

Actually I think the worm has turned a little and that disruptive interior defenders and the IOL who stop them have arguably become more important than edges and OTs. It’s a function the offensive quick game and what you have to do to get to someone like Tom Brady. But for the Steelers, getting a R...

I’d snatch him in a heartbeat if he’s there in the 3rd for the Steelers. I just think day 3 for the sole reason of 2 down players should not be drafted in the 1st 2 days. He is in a low value position ( for the NFL) and his motor has always been an issue. I would not like him even at pick 98 just b...
