Here's the play, by the way.

Stick around for Parker's, Garner's and Tekulve's commentary right after.

Re: Lets Go Bucs 2025!

Don't look now, but the Pirates may be gearing up for their annual midsummer tease... They can't really tease us because even if they play a little over. 500 ball the rest of the way, they will still likely fall short of an overall .500 record. Which is I think this team's ceiling. They are going n...

Re: RIP The Cobra

A sad day. Dave Parker was one of my all-time favorites. Always hustled down the first base line. A cannon for an arm. Could do it all. I used to have a foul ball hit by the Cobra on my shelf, but I went to college and my little brother borrowed it for a neighborhood game and it was lost. Forgot al...

Re: RIP The Cobra

Still remember him stumbling but making the catch to end the orioles 8th inning threat in game 7 of '79 series. I remember gunning down Jim Rice at 3rd and Al Downing at the plate in the 1979 All Star Game. I recall all of those plays. The near stumble in the 8th inning made my heart stick in my th...

Re: RIP The Cobra

So sad to hear this news today. Parker was a key cog to that 1979 World Series team. At least he got to hear the news before passing even though he didn't get his chance to be honored at the HOF ceremony. I was concerned when I saw his interview after the HOF announcement, he did not appear to be in...

Three game sweep of the cross state Phillies and 6-4 in the last 10... this team has looked better since the manager change. Actually got to watch all three games, and they were all fun. Can't ask for much more at this point. Unfortunately, emotions only get you so far in sports. The Pirates lack o...

Congratulations to Cutch for his 240th HR in a Buccos uniform which ties him with the Great Roberto Clemente at 3rd on Buccos all time HR list! Way to go, Cutch!

Also I'm fricking loving Donny Kelly! He has the guys playing much better baseball.

Re: Lets Go Bucs 2025!

2 more tough losses with great starts by Skenes and Keller. Doesn't seem to matter, and never will if you go 0 for 13 with RISP. Reynolds is in one of the worst slumps he's ever been in. He's slipped below the Mendoza line and seems to only get hits at in the early innings, rarely when we need it mo...

Re: Lets Go Bucs 2025!

To answer Jeemie's query, the Bucs appear to be skipping the teasing part this season and just dove straight into the crashing and burning. Could easily picture them not winning another game in '25, though of course they'll eek out a few. Bless you Mean Joe for hanging in there, a few of us brave/c...

Great post, Jack. I agree with all of it 100%. My order of favorite Buccos managers is: Chuck Tanner, Danny Murtaugh (he's the greatest of my lifetime), Jimmy Leyland, and Clint Hurdle. Hurdle made a huge difference in transforming the losing culture. Miss him. Sorry I've been having some health pro...

So it is almost May. when does everybody predict that the annual tease will begin, where the Pirates will suddenly string together a bunch of wins and make it look like they could actually compete for a playoff spot? Only to crash and burn at the end? Their stats are better in 2nd half of April aft...

And the buccos bricks fiasco What a disaster https://x.com/kdka/status/1909731883593638155?s=42 I think, to me, this was the most heart breaking incident to have occurred. Re: Lets Go Bucs 2025!

So nice to watch a pretty clean looking Paul Skenes outing, having gone 7 strong with 1 unearned run. The rest of the team got some timely hitting, some ouch defense at times (that collision in the outfield looked bush league), but enough solid bullpen work to hold down the victory. Raise it! Let's ...

Re: Lets Go Bucs 2025!

Harrington didn't look very good. I'm starting to seriously wonder how good some of these young arms really are in our farm system. Whenever they try one out, they typically fail hard, aside from slam dunk Skenes, and surprisingly Jones. It is certainly starting out very poorly. We may be buried by ...

Skenes pitched well. No offense, only 4 hits Bullpen stinks. Can't blow a 4-1 lead. Yep. We've seen this episode before. Skenes pitches well, can't score enough runs, bullpen collapses. They had several opportunities to add on to their total and it would have made the difference, but failed each ti...

No surgery for Jones is good news. Still can't throw for at least 6 weeks. I'm glad Suwinski and Bae made the team. Not so glad about Pham and Frazier, 2 bums we never should have signed. I'd rather see them give chances to the young guys we traded for at the trade deadline last season, Yorke and Co...

Russell was my Uncle Bill's favorite Steeler in the 70s. He waxes to this day. Another totally underrated dude. Was one of a handful of pre-Noll survivors. He was great to listen to as a narrator on the NFL films accounts of 70s Steelers. My fave was the game in Philly where Mean Joe took the ball,...

It's Spring Training games, and only a few into it as well, but I'm loving what I'm seeing from Jack Suwinski so far. Yesterday went 2 for 3, double, 3 RBI, 2 SB. If they can fix Jack, that will go a long way to pretty much solving LF. Not a fan of Pham, and hope he goes away, actually, but we'll se...

As far as just OLBs, I would put watt behind ham and Harrison but tbh, ahead of both Lloyd and Porter Porter was such a vocal leader on that '05 championship team... the voice of that D, and played in and won a bunch of playoff games... I could entertain the argument over Lloyd, and over Porter as ...

No current Steeler is the team’s GOAT on defense. That’s Joe Greene. Watch the 1974 AFC Championship Game.
Absolutely true. And a very close second is Jack Lambert. No current Steeler on defense is in the top 5.

Bucs signed LHP Andrew Heaney to one year 5.25 million. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/pirates-to-sign-andrew-heaney.html Not bad for a back end and to shore up in case some of the youngsters and those returning from IL need a little more time. Could also be the prelude of a trade of an arm ...

Alright I'm nowhere near as optimistic headed into this season than I was last year, and this is with the promise of Skenes for a full year. WTF happened between 2015 and now? I thought we fired all the other guys because we wanted to do better than they were doing, instead we are doing worse, if it can be believed. Generational talent falls into our lap and we do absolutely nothing to build around him. It's the dream of a small market t...
