What I do care about is someone (competent) must have that rose pinned on him. They have a platoon of coaches on the sidelines and how someone missed 18 seconds is beyond me. Most sports I know that have a dedicated clock have some sort of coach monitor it, especially when it is about to expire.

As an official, I'm very anal about clock operations. At the high school level, I often get time keepers that have never operated a clock and that forces me to pay attention more than normal. When I was a new official, I got myself and a head referee in some trouble because I wasn't paying attention and the clock operator screwed up. It was quite a mess to reconstruct. Every time I blow a whistle, I glance at the clock to see if it started or stopped. Unbelievable, somebody on that officiating crew didn't catch it. One of them keeps the time on their wristwatch.

Craig Wolfley just said that people he talked to on the sidelines knew the clock kept running.

Nice of them to keep it to themselves.

I doubt that they did.

Can Mike Tomlin EVER do no wrong to you? I understand that a lot of the shit he takes is somewhat unwarranted, but, as far as any clock issue, how could anyone who watches Steeler games week in and week out not say that this is definitely something HE MUST IMPROVE ON?

Of course we know people get carried away here at SteelerFury, but it's part of being a fan who is Type A.

But seriously, your patrol car is out way too much at Mike Tomlin headquarters.

Can Tomlin ever do no wrong? That's a very odd question. I'll assume you mean to ask whether I think Mike Tomlin can ever make a mistake and answer in the affirmative.

But assigning significance to press conference answers is a complete waste of time. People dissect every word choice Tomlin makes and every piece of information he releases or withholds.

If he says too much about a player's injury, he's giving our opponents too much information. If he doesn't say enough about a player's injury, he's being secretive for no reason. If he tells the reporters to go pound rocks with a Tomlinism about "chasing ghosts" or "living in our fears", he's not taking accountability for his inadequacies or trying to improve. If he takes the blame for something, he didn't sound like he really cared that he screwed up in the first place.

Pure gold

A lesson on logical sense coming from you. Pounding your chest while playing the same game in reverse.

At least your last line after the comma you got it right. He doesn't care that they missed it - right or wrong.
