The great positives from second half.
I thought the OL really stepped up and gave Ben the Time to get the ball out and into his receivers.
The DL did it job shut down the run and got after Brock .
The defense made tackles when they had to do and the secondary shut down when needed.

what this game proves is that we have a team that when it plays well (second half), we have a legit chance to beat anyone and win our seventh sb. It also shows that this team is still full of young, inexperienced players who when they play poorly (first half), can lose in the first round of the playoffs.
some players on the rise:
Ryan Shazier- has played a few games in a row now, seems healthy and ready to go for playoff push. I think with experience he can be a great lb.
A. Villy- Had a couple bad plays where guys blew by him, but, for the most part, I think this guys arrow is pointing way, way up. I'm not sure how guys like Dulac can say he won't be a starting LT next year... if we can play Blake with the thinking that he will improve.... we should be playing this guy cause he's already way better of a LT than Blake is at Cb.
C. Wallace- I'm a huge Pouncey fan... I don't buy all the "hes always injured" bs.... twice he's had guys crash into the back of his leg.... beyond those...he's lined up and played. With that said, I'm beginning to slide over to the other side...meaning.... I'd rather see M. Bryant and A. Brown together with Wallace....than Pouncey and Brown. Wallace is a scrappy, hard nosed player who is playing above the line.
A.B. is ridiculous. I was a big H. Ward fan, but A.B. may be ruining any chance Ward had at the HOF. A.B. is just a much better W.R....and IMO, it's not even close.
M. Bryant- may be the closest thing to R. Moss that I've seen, but doesn't possess the hands Moss does/ did. He let's too many catchable balls hit the ground. I'm tired of hearing how the db made a great play..BS!!!! catch the damn thing and you will be unstoppable.
M. Gilbert- how many guys get paid.... then get into the best shape of their lives and play the best ball they've ever played? He's the anti Woodley. I'm almost to the point where I'm forgetting how he used to take out his teammates...Almost.
Cam Heyward- a true leader of this D. You guys see him on the sideline pulling the D together late first half....then backs it up with his play... I was worried we'd never replace A. Smith.... well, we've done it.
S. Tuitt- Also worried about replacing Da Beard. This guys in year two? Heyward hardly sniffed the field in year two...and now look at him... Can Tuitt be better then Heyward in two years? I think he might?
D. Williams- this guy has saved our season... I love Bell...think he's a once in a generation type of back...but....because of Williams, I haven't missed Bell too much..... enough said.
Wheaton- got one more year of you...then you'll be off making the probowl for another team. Glad youre here, and hope to get two S.B. before you go. You stepping up has made this passing Offense down right sick.
D. DeCastro- another quiet day...which for a lineman is a good thing. missed a blitzing LB early.. but after that was solid. Another first round pick that Colbert and Co has done well with. He 'll be a Steeler for a long time, and I'm happy about that.
Boykin- can the last few weeks and a playoff run counter the fact that he rotted most of the season. Would love to see him, Gay, and our 2nd rounder form our cb's for next year. Throw in Cockrell and the OSU corner... we may have something. Could we possibly not draft a CB in round one again? Hmmmm.
That's about it...sure i'm missing some players...but gotta go back to working....
super excited about this team.... even considering driving to Md on Sunday....tickets should be cheap and available....

I've seen Moss drop a bunch of passes in his career. But Bryant needs to work on his upper body control...that's where his deficiencies lie. Unsure how you fix that in the offseason or what you can do to improve

Good stuff. But on the point above, I believe Hines gets in the HOF. What AB is doing shouldn't have any impact on that at all.

Nice thread.
Think about Villy, and Wallace and Gilbert....as well as Foster and DD..........
then think about how many times Ben has dropped back to pass since he came back in week 8.........
7 games 310 passes.............an average of 44 per game...including (2) 55 attempt games.
probably more than that when you take into account a couple of scrambles and sacks...
That is a pace of over 700 attempts for a 16 game schedule..............only once before in NFL history has a QB thrown over 700 times.
4 of those 7 games came vs. teams with very good to top notch NFL defensive, pass rushing lines in Cincy 2x, Seattle and Denver.
All that said and I believe Ben has the lowest sack percentage of his entire career.
Bryant needs to concentrate and make the catch......first. Then use his magical open field skills. Certainly catching in traffic....staying balance in traffic, timing his leap, etc..... needs work.
Huge that Wheaton has stepped up to make up for Bryant drops.
Heyward. love his leadership.
Something happened in the 4th quarter......saw him jawing back and forth with an olineman after a play as they both headed back to their huddles.
He drove his guy back and collapsed the pocket on the next play......like a man possesed
Tuit is a monster.
These 2 bad boys have incredible stamina
Boykin makes plays when he is on the field. The defense is better when he is on the field. He has gotten his hands on more passes in about 70 snaps...than Blake has gotten all season......600-700 snaps.
The Brandon Boykin project is a secret project that Tomlin is keeping a tight lip on.
I expect Blake to start on Sunday.
Excited for the next 2 games..............as most of us are. Cant wait.
"Tomlin has never appreciated the role of scheme and play call in the ability for player's to execute" Kodiak.

I agree, A.B. shouldn't impact Ward at all... but I think it will. Too many Steelers Wr's in HOF, Ward's numbers aren't the best, and the guy who replaced him is far superior.... This is what I think the voters will be thinking. Ward being the best blocking WR in history won't be enough...
I guess time will tell.

If Bryant had AB's hands he would be scary
Wheaton will be like hakim from the Rams. A great 3rd WR that gets paid and then shits the bed when he doesn't have two number 1 receivers diverting attention.
