What's the word on DWill?

I haven't heard anything, but coming back out to the sidelines during the game, he said something to Munchak, who had a big ass smile on his face. I'm thinking he'll be good to go.

et's remember....if DWill can't go, not nearly the impact of losing Lev Bell for playoffs last year.

I disagree. It would be equally as devastating. DWill has been one of the best backs in the league this year, and an awesome blocker. Really changes how we can play.

RB DeAngelo Williams, in a walking boot, congratulating each teammate as they come off the field in the tunnel. https://twitter.com/missi_matthews/stat ... 8905176066
Not very encouraging...

Don't know it thats so, TB....certainly will impact the running game, though some of our wins this year, wasn't much of a running game to speak of. Bell was much more a threat in the passing game than is DWill....that part won't be impacted so much.
The boot means nothing at this point. Just protecting it.

Coach Tomlin says they don't know the extent of DeAngelo's ankle injury yet. https://twitter.com/missi_matthews/stat ... 3014861825
Hopefully the boot is precautionary... as Lit suggested.
I think Dwill will be good to go next week. Those boots are very precautionary The facted that he jogged back onto the field was great news. With Dwill. the running game will be non-existent. It will be squarely on Ben's shoulders and let's hope he plays better than he has the last two weeks.
No, I agree with TB, losing Williams for the playoffs eliminates any Super Bowl aspirations. Fitz just does not have the experience and really is not the factor that Williams is as a blocker in blitz pickup and as a receiver or as a runner. Williams was a real threat for splash plays, plays of 20+ yards and 40+ yards with a real nose for the end zone. Fitz just reminds me more of a Jon Dwyer/Isaac Redman type of back.
I think the walking boot is just precautionary. He came back out of the locker room and was on the sidelines not gimpy but jogging and bouncing around. Whatever he said to Munchak to get him to smile was probably that there was no damage and that he would be good for the next game.

Kaboly update:
DeAngelo Williams (ankle) was spotted wearing a walking boot following the Steelers' Week 17 win over the Browns.
The Steelers did not update Williams' status after the game. Williams had to be carted to the locker room after a defender fell on his right leg at the end of a second-quarter run. He returned to the sidelines in the second quarter, but he was ruled out for the game during halftime. Williams' availability for the Wild Card round is completely up in the air. His status will be updated throughout the week.

Hopefully ankle rather than foot. No lis franc this week, thanks very much.
And I'm on the side we need him back. His blocking has been phenomenal. He has those intangibles that can help this offense just mess with defenses. Can they make a run without him? Maybe. But the sure as hell can make a run with him.

We need DWill in a big way. Can't face those DL's without his blitz pick-up or any threat of the run - they'll drop 7 or 8 in coverage all day. Haley better have a plan to spread out the 'D' both vertically and horizontally.
Can't treat the middle of the field like the Bermuda triangle that only Heath Miller can return from.

DWill is the only guy who has showed up every single game this season, by my count. Everyone else has managed to take at least a game off. He showed up in the best shape of his life. He's kicked ass. The Steelers can rally around him.

Actually let me revise that. Ironhead Jr showed up every game too.

Haley's not the only one who needs to hear that about the middle of the field...

He absolutely does show up every game. I'm saying at this point last year, Lev Bell was a more integral component of the offense due to his inclusion in the passing game than is DWill right now
I'm certainly hoping he's playing, but we can beat Cinci without him.
I will be concerned if DW and Bryant are not right and playing the way they can for this game.

Ben's never liked the middle of the field. I don't understand it. It's almost like they want to avoid it because of higher risk of interception, haha.
But a lot seems to be play design, too. Seems like mostly only the backs and TE roam into the short/intermediate middle.

this is absolutely right
it's just a matter of what percentage of our offense goes through one player; last year it was lopsided towards Bell at times. this year DW's been vital, but not quite to the same monopolizing degree.
that said, i think his absence hurts our chances by a good 25% or so
just my own personal estimation
