JuJu's block

Post by zeke5123 » Tue Dec 05, 2017 5:05 am

According to the rules, an illegal block occurs when:

An offensive player cannot initiate contact on the side and below the waist against an opponent if:

the blocker is moving toward his own end line; and

he approaches the opponent from behind or from the side.

Note: If the near shoulder of the blocker contacts the front of his opponent’s body, the “peel back” block is legal.

Thus, it was not an illegal peel back block as Burfict was running sideline to sideline.

Here is my source https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nf ... ack-block/.

Thus, the refs basically said Juju hit him too hard.

Also, fuck Gruden. On the TD to Green, Watt's jersey was clearly pulled away from him and Gruen screamed where is the foul. Bryant's arm was grabbed and held and Gruden screamed where is the foul. A, what appeared to be legal play, and Gruden screams where is the ejection.

I know it was illegal.

I know it was not a smart play.

I know I should not like it. It was borderline dirty.

Juju laid that motherfucker Burfict out and talked shit on top of it.

I fucking love Juju Smith Schuster.

That is all.

It seemed damn legal. The taunting okay...but the hit? What wasn't clean about it?

I’ve said for quite a while now that this league isn’t going to get Burfict in line, it will take a player to do it. I’m just glad it was one of ours. JuJu is essentially Hines Ward’s offspring. Love that kid.

If JuJu gets a fine then AB and Bell will pay it for taking that knucklehead out.

I loved Tone spreading his arms in glee after getting rocked by Iloka, who better get fined too.

Tomlin just said he shouldn't have stood over him and he's sure Juju would apologize for that. And I bet he will.

I don't blame him a bit for standing over that criminal. And the fact that he will apologize for it (and his coach already did) makes him the much bigger man.

The hit itself- IMO totally within the rules.

Sir JuJu

Thing is, Gruden was praising JuJu for the same fucking block the next series.....except, he didn't hit him as hard...I think Gruden takes milk and estrogen in his morning coffee.

the hit was definitely clean but don't expect to hear anyone in the world of sports media arguing that point over the next week

i just thought it was cute hearing Gruden and theotherdumbfuck discuss the play's perceived blow to Juju's likeability, as if it weren't cementing that for the entire Steelers fanbase

JuJu is probably going to MAKE money on that hit after "contributions" roll in from players and fans around the league...

There was incidental helmet to helmet contact. Unfortunately that's going to draw the flag every time. He put his shoulder right in burficts chest. Not juju's responsibility to make sure burfict has his head on a swivel. The taunting is obviously a penalty though I enjoyed it

Wilbon on twitter said JuJu should be suspended for that hit, where does ESPN find all these toolbags. What is this world coming to.

Furthermore, all of the analysts and announcers decreeing the physicality of this game as unnecessary and bad for the league need to get off their high horse. The NFL has always been built around who can out hit and impose their will on the opponent. Hell they used to market videos with the biggest hits of the year. They've made necessary changes to try and enhance the safety of the game but it is and always will be a violent game. The hits in this game were no more egregious than anything you see weekly in the NFL

I agree the hit was clean by the book but it’s penalized every time in today’s NFL. Here is my problem. If that’s any other LB in the league, JuJu lays off that hit a bit. Because the league refuses to ban Burfict, it causes plays like this to happen. If the league cared about player safety, they prevent this kind of play. Instead, they fail to do their job and the players keep escalating things. It could easily have been Brown on a stretcher too. He absolutely should have gone through protocol.
