I don't like the FG thing, but the 1-2-3 point XPs is a good idea, no kicking XPs, just the choice of the 1 point from the 1, 2 point from the 5 and 3 point from the 10, would be good.

I kind of like the idea if getting points based on yards of the scoring drive. Not just XP but every drive. Wow, now that would turn the game upside down.
Another option would be adopting the Arena Football goal posts. 9 foot wide, cross bar 15 feet off they ground, XPs and FGs won't be so automatic then, in fact it would force a lot more aggression from coaches, even 30 yard FGs wouldn't be gimmes anymore. Nowadays the kickers hit like 90% from 50 yards and in, with this, it would probably drop to 50%.

I think they should leave the game the way it is. Gimmick scoring isn't needed. The game is wildly popular as is so I don't see any reason to keep changing the rules. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it". Cliché as it is I find that it's mostly true.

In the Bills/NYG game last night they kicked the XPs from the 15, that was stupid! It seemed just as routine, and of course it takes away the idea of faking the kick to go for 2.
One other thing they should add is a play that is in every other football league, college, CFL, arena, high school, th eidea that if the Defense blocks an XP or makes a turnover on a 2-point try, they can return it fo 2 points of their own, that I would support for sure, and it's part of the game on every level.

i'm not in favor of narrowing the goalposts, but I am in favor of raising the cross bar.

I could get on board for that. That's not a drastic change to the rule and adds more incentive to keep the XP.

And it hardly ever happens anyways. I've seen it a couple times in arenaball, then again they only have to run 50 yards. Can't remember ever seeing it in a college game, but it is in the rules.

Maybe I'm getting old but I agree. if people are worried that XP's are a waste of time and automatic just make a TD worth 7 with the option to risk a point by going for "2".

That's more gimmicky than the other ideas. Having negative points I mean.

I'll rephrase. TD is worth 6 pts. you have a choice to take a free extra point or go for 2.
Remember the WFL in the '70s? They had no XP kicks, they gave you 7 for a TD, then what they had was called an "action point", you lined up at the 5 with a chance to run a play for an additional 1 point.
