Been saying this for a couple of years.

I expect Hubbard to hand Munchak a check for his FA signing.

The tag is worthless, it just created the opposite of it's intended use. There should be penalties for this exact situation or the tag just needs to be removed as an option.

The team is better with him, but not with the issues he's now creating.

I want to reset the RB market because we're undervalued.
...BTW, I want to be paid like a top WR and top RB while I'm resetting the market.
Oh no they didn't! They didn't just tag me again. I'm going to reset the market even HARDER now!
...I'm going to hold out since I can't negotiate a contract this year! That will REALLY reset the market!
It's really all about not getting injured before the regular season starts.
...You all see how I get injured during the regular season almost every year. Holding out prevents that.
Kahlil Mack!!! Oh yeah!! I need some of that Mack money!!
...but it's never been about the money. It's about being valued.
Hold up for a sec while I spit about being the man, and getting paid

The tag is just one of many fuck yous to players in the CBA.

Yes, they get paid.

But you don't franchise tag a player if you don't think they'll get more than what you're offering on the open market.

I don't think paying a player the average of the top three at that position is really a FU. And the Steelers wouldn't have had to tag him if he didn't want more than he deserved. Top RB + #2 WR? Are you kidding?

Hey, I've been one of the most productive backs for the past few years, but I've lost a step, am injury prone, and have a strike against me for substance abuse. You should bend over and take a high, hard one just because I can rap about how great I am.

No thanks, Lev. You want the world, but every year is another year of tread off your tires. You seem to think you're negotiating a couple years ago without injuries or suspension hanging over your head. Your poop stinks just as bad as anyone else's.

No. If the Steelers were confident they were offering Bell the most he would get, they could have let him hit UFA and just re-signed him since no one would be offering more.

Further, you're giving a 1 year guaranteed deal for a player at a high use position that ages out of the NFL very quickly and preventing them from getting the 3-5 year guaranteed deal they'll likely receive (and which is likely the last big contract they'll ever get).

Cousins (another MSU guy) seemed to play the game of franchise tag perfectly. The fan base in DC was mostly upset he left and he got paid to play as the Redskins kept not offering him a multiyear big money deal. Bell is the opposite. He wanted a big money deal and was offered a big money deal 2x and walked away and now will probably never get the 60 or 70 million dollar deal. The fan base is becoming less enamored with him hourly as of right now.

When I said, "Are you kidding?", I wasn't saying that to you. Just want to make sure it didn't come across like I was attacking you.

Now, the Steelers couldn't have been confident they were offering the most he would get on the open market. They NEVER offer the most. So there would be no re-signing him. The Steelers knew that they would lose in a bidding war.

Look at Todd Gurley's contract and see all the guaranteed money he actually got. It looked like a lot at first glance, but it's not as great as originally stated.

@jkatzenstein
Former Saints RB Trey Edmunds is signing with the Steelers practice squad, per source. He'll join his brother Terrell Edmunds in Pittsburgh.

Edmunds is the brother of Steelers’ safety Terrell Edmunds and Buffalo Bills’ linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. Trey is the eldest of the three.

Trey Edmunds carried the ball three times for four yards this preseason. He chipped in one tackle defensively.

Standing in at 6’0 225 pounds, size for a back the Steelers like, he impressed at his 2017 Pro Day workout, running a 4.48 and jumping 35 inches in the vertical. He signed with the Saints as a UDFA in 2017.

The Steelers will need to make a corresponding move in order to fit Edmunds onto their practice squad. It’s possible Jarvion Franklin, who had an unimpressive preseason, is let go. We’ll update this thread when that move is announced.

This is the kind of shit Tomlin does that pisses me off. Yeah, let's just piss away a PS spot just because I like the Edmunds family. Trey is basically a FB and not a very good one at that. Yeah, we need an extra FB on the PS. Did it with Landry Jones for years, as well as other examples. Belicheck wins because he doesn't do this shit. Tomlin gotta look out for his boys though, even if it makes the team weaker.

The next thing I expect to hear out of his camp is that he's going to retire from football to rap full-time. And he's a really shitty rapper.

Fuck Lev Bell. Dead to me.

For those people that said this issue with Bell wouldn’t carry over to the locker room are as delusional as Bell himself.

He has alienated most fans, his teammates and I would hope coaches as well.

This guy is a first class asshole.

There comes a point where enough is enough.

Yes he is an awesome back. No one will deny that.

But

It’s time to put this fucktard in the rearview.

Fuck him. Ready to roll without him and will be cheering Connor and Ridley on....

Remind me.....Didn't someone else pull this shit [not the Steelers] trying to get cut? Was it Meyshawn or Revis?

Where's that movie clip where the OL just stands there and lets the RB/QB get blown up?

Won’t happen. When Bell finally decides to show...Aviators will welcome him with open arms. JC could be on his way to a 2000 yard season, and Tomlin will bench him as soon as his man crush arrives.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking about!!

I honestly don't want anyone to get hurt, not even Bell. But it would be AMAZING to see the entire OL set their blocks long enough for him to get the ball and then just all fall to the ground.

Bob Ryan on Around the Horn just stated a pretty interesting fact.

When Ben, Bell and Brown are all on the field together, the Steelers are 41-19 over the past 4 seasons.

When ANY ONE OF THEM is missing, the Steelers are 15-12.

Fucking hilarious. Also I have a fantasy draft tonight in 3 hours and the #3 pick so I assume johnson and gurley are gone now do I want Hunt, AB, or Barkley? If Bell was actually on the team I would have taken him or Johnson or Gurley which ever way they went. now not so much.

I'd take Zeke Elliot or Alvin Kamara over Hunt or Barkley. But honestly, I'd take AB at #3. I had my fantasy draft last night (I was pick 7 in a 12 team league), and WR was pretty much cleared out by my 3rd round pick.

I'm not sure how well informed the guys in your league are, but I was able to land Jamaal Williams, Kerryon Johnson, and Adrian Peterson in the 5th, 8th, and 10th rounds respectively. Good RBs can be found late, WR is slim pickins this year.

How many teams are in the league and is it PPR or half PPR or no PPR? Also is it starting 2 RB 2 WR and 1 flex?

No PPR

1 qb
2 rb
3 wr
1 te
1 k
1 def/st

10 man league we have been in the same league since 1999 we all know each others tendencies so it is very cut throat. I usually place a premium on WR. I have taken Elliot off my draft list because I think Dallas is going to struggle this year.
