This team sucks, the NFL sucks

Post by Legacy User » Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:54 pm

Do any of you enjoy watching football anymore? A lot of people have said they stopped watching non-Steeler NFL games -- do you even enjoy the Steeler games anymore? The NFL and the rules/officiating have ruined the game. I'm not even talking about CTE issues; I'm talking about over-use of replay, the inability to create and enforce sensible rules about what is or is not a catch, constant commercial interruptions, penalties/reviews breaking up the flow of the game, and entitled fucking athletes who aren't even remotely fun to root for.

Now as for this team....

Roethlisberger is done. He's always been lazy and lacked preparation. Now his physical tools are diminishing. This should be his last year. (Sorry B2B, don't yell at me.)

The defense is AWFUL. How many years have they had to rebuild it? Let's conservatively say 6. Where is the fucking coaching? How do you have this many first round picks that underperform? Is Colbert just drafting poor players?

Tomlin has coasted his way into being a pretty shitty coach. I have defended him for years. You all know me as a Tomlin apologist. I'm ready to say he sucks. I can't excuse him anymore. The team needs a shake up.

This shit just isn't any fun anymore. Maybe I'm becoming a crotchety old man at 33. Maybe it was only fun before because they were dominant. Maybe the hero-worship I had for players as a kid has worn off, and I recognize them for the fucking entitled douchebags that they are.

I know, I know. If I don't like the Steelers, I can GET OUT. Pardon my venting. I should have gone to the pool with my wife.

I now enjoy college football better. Way too many flags, and it's hard to handle the drama and stupidity that seems so prevalent in the Steelers organization now.

Stopped right there. This the gist of it for me as well. Everytime a play ended, I found myself looking for some unnoticed flag. I constantly expect at least one flag per 2 plays now. The fact that the Steelers HC is a complete piece of shit certainly weighs in on this as well. What really kills it for me is the constant commercial breaks. Seems with every change of possession, flag, time out, replay etc... there's some fucking stupid waste of my time commercial that means fuckall and doesn't entice me to want to buy a fucking thing made in China. NFL is about $. The product is garbage.

Let’s not fool ourselves,it’s much easier to say you’re getting uninterested in the NFL when you know your team has zero shot at winning the big game.
If we had a forward thinking coach that actually takes advantage of the “new NFL” like McVay or Pederson we’d all be fired up!!

That may be true SOCAL. The fact remains Tomlin is who we know him to be for a decade now. A Poser! Time he was shown the exit.

Or Andy Reid...
Mahomes was fantastic, to say the least, but the play designs and calls that have receivers sprinting wide open through the secondary, are a thing of beauty. On the other hand, watching the Steelers offense, even when its working, is like getting your teeth pulled.

Exactly!
That’s why these losses don’t bother me anymore. It’s the same story over and over with this coach.
I know that even if they made the playoffs an early exit would occur.
No way this coach/team can beat 3 quality teams in the playoffs especially on the road.

This team couldn't win 2 games AT HOME in the playoffs

Ben played his ass off. Do you know how hard it is bringing a team back from 21 down when the D knows you are going to pass? He did his best considering AB was acting like a bitch and Ramon Foster decided to play like Darnell Stapleton today.

It's a shame that any visiting team feels they have a better chance winning in PGH than they do winning in their own stadium. Home field advantage goes to the visitors!

I think Roethlisberger still has some gas left in the tank. However, I do see a noticeable difference in arm strength, quickness (mental and physical), and athleticism between him and some of the younger, stronger, QB's coming into the league. QB's that use their mobility/feet on a regular basis and not just on some rare occasion. As we get older, it does seem like the players today are just immature, self-absorbed kids now ...... Certainly not how I remembered Steeler players of the past acting and trying to create their own social-media "brand".

What's hurting this team the most right now is poor coaching and scheme. There's talent on this roster. It's just not being coached-up.

Andy Reid is an outstanding coach.

He will blow games with his truly awful game management decisions, but I'm really excited to see what he does with a legit QB for the first time in his career. Hopefully he's smart enough to get a smart guy in the booth to make his endgame decisions for him.

Unfortunately, the Rooney’s have always worn that stability/longevity legacy like a badge of honor. Aviators is going nowhere!

Ben is the only reason this team isn't 5-11 every. He personally carried this team on his back to 37 points today. Wait until he's gone, If you hate football now, you will quit watching then
