Ravens Warn Rookies To Save Some Extra Money For Bail
SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEF • Sports • NFL Football • ISSUE 50•27 • Jul 7, 2014
BALTIMORE—Reminding them that it’s something even the league’s highest paid superstars must do, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh reportedly took time Monday to advise the team’s incoming class of rookies to set aside savings for future bail payments. “It’s imperative that you guys start putting aside some money here and there—even if it’s only a few hundred dollars each month in a savings account—for when you’re sitting in a county jail at 4 a.m. and need to come up with a surety bond,” said Harbaugh, reminding the incoming players that their financial planning should also cover any potential legal fees for subsequent court hearings. “It may not seem like a big deal now, but we’ve unfortunately seen many great players suffer as a result of being totally unprepared for their future arrests. I know you see this big paycheck every week and it’s tempting to spend all of it right away, but just remember that you’ll need that money down the line for hefty state fines after pleading guilty to what will hopefully only be a few misdemeanor charges.” According to team sources, Harbaugh then reminded players that the Ravens offer financial advising to map out long-term investment plans so they can comfortably afford bail and legal costs long after their playing careers are over.

Steelers should tell their guys the same thing. It's not like our guys have been any better than the Ravens in this area.
It is just a joke, but the truth is at the same time it's not a joke, every year someone gets busted for something.

our divisional foes have accounted for 14 arrests since the last steeler arrest. We've run a pretty clean ship since the holmes trade (3 arrests since mid 2009; ravens have had 4 this year so far).
Not that we've always been exemplary, but loading your roster with crooks and felons is something I think we should all agree is worthy and appropriate to mock.

I agree with that, though I think the comparison should be nfl players vs other males of the age with jobs (and I think the numbers there would be very close).
That said, certain teams fill their rosters with certain types of players and end up overcontributing to that 2.9. Which gives the league a bad name. And is deserving of criticism.

2. Get an elevator evasion handbook
3. Purchase a bottle of bleach

What are the 3 things you need to bed down with a woman from Baltimore for $1,000?

http://deadspin.com/what-do-arrests-dat ... -733301399Only on the bad side of the stats for weapons, part of that is they can more easily afford "toys" like that. Even with drugs, it's mostly weed and not hard drugs. I think the NFL "crime problem" is just the media selling the story to gain followers to their network, website or newspaper, it's a story that sells, Ameriicans lve sports, but also love bashing the players when they can.
Compared with their peers (Adult Males), these players were 11 percent less likely to get a DUI (8.3 per thousand compared to 9.4 for adult males), 23 percent less likely to get an assault charge (7.4 vs. 9.6), and 59 percent less likely to get a drug charge (4.2 vs. 10.4). The NFL's problem is the one Bob Costas identified: NFL players were still more than twice as likely as the average man to face a weapons charge (2.2 vs. 1.0). *73 percent of NFLers' drug arrests were for weed only, compared to a national average of around 50 percent.

I'd love to see a heroine addict try to maintain a job as a professional athlete.

We have run a clean ship, but our arrest are much more spectacular. The Ravens havent had a stabbing since Ray-Rays Atlanta club days, and we had a player go GTA (Grand Theft Auto). Those are quality raps.

There have been coke heads out there. Every read about the 1980 Saints? I think it was 1980, they went 1-15 and some of the team was free basing coke.

LT won NFL MVP as a near everyday crackhead. Genes just have no concept of fair or just.
Johnny Football is amateur hour. I'm no celebrity and I always had the common sense and greed to use a stall...and either key it or dump a quarter on a hammer fist and hoover the whole damn thing. Drink, bill, wet sink top, public exposure, mouths to feed...crossing my fingers it was someone else's coke and he was just getting a hit...I'm a JF fan and don't like the lack of prep in his game plan.
