JJ Watt to be released
Re: JJ Watt to be released
I look at cleveland i see a team that had the #16 offense, #17 defense, and a qb that has never been top ten in anything ever. They feel like they have a lot of energy/excitement with their fanbase right now, where our fans are pretty worthless at the moment, but on paper they aren’t good and things will only get worse when Mayfield’s cap hit starts mattering.
But Vegas likes them slightly better than us for this coming season, and i would take their opinion over mine any day.

This would be funny, if it weren't true-
Anyway- I know everyone wants the other Watt, because he's a hell of a player- but he doesn't fit on this roster, unless you get rid of someone.

JJ joining this Steelers defense could be the best way to re-energize the Hall Of Fame trajectory from earlier in his career.
He could sign elsewhere for more money, but joining the Watt brothers already in Pittsburgh maximizes his potential successes.
Plus it makes it easier on his parents. They only have to concern themselves with organizing their day around one team.

It's fun watching the boat take on water for three quarters only to hope a 39 year old Ben can bailout enough water once the boat is in danger of capsizing and Captain Tomlin has locked himself in his quarters.
I think in this metaphor Ben is Billy Budd.
Will be interesting to see how the Ben scenario plays out.....
Our defense last year was kicking major ass until Bush and Dupree and then Spillane went out. Suppose this defense comes back healthy and starts kicking ass again?
The offense looked good, running the ball, throwing the ball downfield and everything until....something happened. If that "something" was Ben, then the offense may not look better this year. But suppose it wasn't Ben, suppose the Oline fell apart. Suppose they fix the oline this offseason, and the offense looks competent next year.
Do I think the Browns are so ahead of us if we have a competent offense and an ass kicking defense? Not really.

Bush isn’t anything really special, in a Shazier type way and don’t hold your breath expecting Dupree to return.El Kabong wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 2:09 amOur defense last year was kicking major ass until Bush and Dupree and then Spillane went out. We’ll also likely going to be missing Haden and one of either Hilton or Sutton.

The offense got so stagnate it was painful to watch. The small ball let defenses attack with less area to defend. Looked like a much better game was called for Mason. Less predictive and stretched the field.
Was it just the difference in QBs that made them call a different game. Appeared they were much more creative and tried to get Dobbs involved. Could have used some this creativity the last part of the season, especially the playoffs.
The coaches don't seem to see/smell the crap on the field in front of them. Feiler was often pushed around badly and had multiple penalties. Spillane couldn't run for shit and struggled to get his pads down.
They looked and played like they were injured. The team doesn't always put the best players on the field to give themselves the best chance to win games. Captain Obvious is Oblivious to the Odorous Offal.
Dude has probably never seen a Forest because all those damn Trees get in the way.

A laborer over the course of 30 seconds can sustain an average output of about 3 Watts. Confirmed to Pittsburgh.
Supposedly he has offers from several teams with the highest being about $15 M-$16 M per year.
If this is true, he isn’t coming here.

Much easier to do something like that when your QB is on his rookie contract. Murray's cap hit is $9.8M in 2021 and has only the 22nd highest QB contract in the league. It's the blessing and the curse of having a franchise QB who is on the 2nd contract or later.

Yep. Still on the rook contract means the Cards are trying to make it happen now.Stillerz Bar wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:45 pmMuch easier to do something like that when your QB is on his rookie contract. I thought for sure he was coming to Pittsburgh at a deep discount to play with his brothers because he doesn’t care about the money
Now that the pipe dream is over with, the Steelers can cut pay check thief Derek and sign someone who may a actually contribute to the team.

Don’t worry...most Steelers fans have another FA pipe dream to cling to...for another two weeks.
Now that we know for sure he ain't going to Baltimore or Cleveland, I wish JJ all the best.

So, JJ goes to Pitt West instead of Pitt East... oh well!

He obviously wanted money.
Therefore we were never in the running.

I think if he stays healthy he puts up 10 sacks at the low end and 14 at the upper, PLUS brings a shit load of respect and admiration and makes every other defensive player feel a bit more legit (intangibles) so the salary while significant is what the market will bare. Good fair contract for both parties IMO.
