Doug Whaley: "Could see" Tomlin leaving for USC or LSU
Don't shoot the messenger. Don't think this is anything more than his own speculation. Slim to none on this actually happening.
I have always said I thought Tomlin would be a better college coach than an NFL coach, but I might go into a deep depression if my hype for LSU to get a new coach ends with Mike Tomlin.

Please don’t tease us like this
The joke will be on us when Dunce goes out and hires an even bigger dipshit.
Ed Orgeron, two seasons removed from a National Championship, is fired.
Mike Tomlin, three shaky playoff wins in the past 12 years, has more job security than the Pope.
And we’re supposed to believe that Tomlin is leaving Pittsburgh for LSU?
Uh…no!

While I agree with your conclusion, Orgeron was fired because he divorced his wife immediately after the NCG and began sticking his dick in anything that moved. Which is fine, except he was also bringing those girlfriends to practice and letting their kids participate. And he also tried to bang the wife of someone high up in the LSU administration. Among many other things. He also began meddling in offense and defense, despite being hired (and winning a NCG) in part because promised to let the coordinators do their jobs.
All of this would have been overlooked if we continued to win. But we haven't.

Tomlin's a fraud, but he isn't stupid.
No way on earth he leaves.
No way on earth he leaves.

I did not know all that about Orgeron, but I really didn’t get in to why he was canned, just that he was two season after getting to the top. But you’re absolutely right when you say had he kept winning he’d have been fine…that’s how it works.Steelknife wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 3:39 pmWhile I agree with your conclusion, Orgeron was fired because he divorced his wife immediately after the NCG and began sticking his dick in anything that moved. But the point remains. Tomlin isn’t leaving his cushy Steelers gig for LSU, USC, or any other big time program where the money people from the outside wield the sword.

And by "don't shoot the messenger," he means "don't plan a Steelerfury parade down Forbes Avenue for the messenger."Steelknife wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:38 pmDon't shoot the messenger. Don't think this is anything more than his own speculation. Slim to none on this actually happening.

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
By the way, if footage exists of Ed Orgeron trying to pick up women at a bar (or anywhere, really), please God let it come to YouTube.

When I read this the first image that came to mind was James Franklin and I almost vomited. Rooney gets his PSU guy, 50 years later.
Yeah, why would MT leave, he lives in the perfect coaching bubble.

That would definitely be a frying pan/fire scenario.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 9:19 pmWhen I read this the first image that came to mind was James Franklin and I almost vomited. Rooney gets his PSU guy, 50 years later.

OK, there's a mental picture nobody needs.Steelknife wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 6:49 pmThere was a pic or pics of him in bed with someone, but I don't believe that scratches the itch you've got.

I’m still trying to come to grips with Ed Orgeron porking every woman that moves…Ice wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 9:48 pmOK, there's a mental picture nobody needs.Steelknife wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 6:49 pmThere was a pic or pics of him in bed with someone, but I don't believe that scratches the itch you've got.

Will still offer cash for audio of Ole Ed trying to score in a bar.
Can he coach Oline for us? Might be a pretty bleak season on the field next year; could at least be an amusing distraction.

Hire Orgeron and pair him with Larry Zierlein…Zierline will share the video of everything that happens
Perfect. You're in charge of coaching hires. Hell, bring Haley back as a consultant and we can get the wife swapping merry go round into it, too.Steel Ubaldo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 3:32 amHire Orgeron and pair him with Larry Zierlein…Zierline will share the video of everything that happens![]()

Reports about Tomlin being a candidate for the USC job too.
A lot of odd smoke that you didn't hear about Tomlin in previous years. Can't imagine he'd leave but find it interesting.

I could believe Tomlin might be sick of Colbert and Rooney bullshitSteelknife wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 2:54 amReports about Tomlin being a candidate for the USC job too.

Without Colbert and Rooney, Tomlin would have one of the worst records in NFL history. He'll never venture out from under their wings.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 3:12 amI could believe Tomlin might be sick of Colbert and Rooney bullshitSteelknife wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 2:54 amReports about Tomlin being a candidate for the USC job too.

If I am Mike Tomlin, I would listen to USC. The Steelers are looking at life without Ben, also possibly without Colbert. He gets to move to any plush neighborhood in Los Angeles for free (they will buy him a house), and he trades the winter for Los Angeles weather. Financially he will be set for life. He is in a media center, and can move to a role like Cowher has when he gets sick of the USC alumni. That would be hard to turn down.
Would be the greatest Christmas present I ever received if Tomlin left for USC.jewelsongs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 2:27 pmIf I am Mike Tomlin, I would listen to USC. I don’t see it unfortunately. Want to be wrong. Very wrong.
But damn I’d be happy to see this bumbling game day idiot hit the road.
I feel like Tomlin would be a fantastic college coach actually. He'd be a recruiting master. Wouldn't you want this guy talking to your son about values and morals and getting him excited?

Colbert and Rooney will pick someone even worse and still do all the disasterous stuff they do
Colbert will spend premium draft capital on a roster full WRs and TEs that can’t get open and slow RBs
Terminal project OL and trash heap CBs
Is there a Shottenheimer available ??
He will be the next HC
And we will pretend for the next 2 - 3 decades that handoff monkey QBs and defense might win a Lombardi while the rest of the league laughs at us
