Rooting for the draft……
Yesterday was fun but ultimately probably not the best big picture outcome.
The Steelers REALLY need to draft Will Anderson and that likely means a top 3 pick if not number 1 outright
Additionally we haven’t seen much evidence that Kenneth has a quality NFL arm or NFL level accuracy. Yes it’s a little early but we have seen 8 quarters of sub par performance in those areas
Trubisky for his part played great yesterday however leopard, spots, etc etc
This team doesn’t have QB capable of winning a Lombardi so let’s lose on pace to add some real impact talent

Sure he does. That first drive yesterday was a thing of beauty. Perfection. He did lots of excellent things against the Jets too and his receivers were a joke vs. Buffalo or that's actually a competitive game.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 2:16 pmProbably. You have to be honest and admit that outside of the first drive the Pickett-led offensive did nothing.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 2:24 pmSure he does. Whether that’s Canada’s inability to adjust or pickets inability to be dynamic is it’s own question

My fear with Pickett is that the current staff won't be able to develop him the way Whiz/Arians did for Ben. He really is starting his career off in a disadvantaged position.

Yep, they did absolutely nothing after that first drive and I thought it was a combination of Pickett making poor decisions along with an awful o-line, zero running game and horrific play calling.kramer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 2:38 pmYou have to be honest and admit that outside of the first drive the Pickett-led offensive did nothing.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 2:24 pmSure he does. We have no idea how good or bad KP will be. I am leaning on he won't pan out but right now making long term judgments: foolish. Canada's offense is so predictable and rigid it is frightening. The oline is still a work in progress. The starting RB lacks explosion and simply cannot make something out of nothing.
If PS do end up in top 5 of the draft, what position are they looking at and does it match the draft spot.
Can they trade Claypool and get a 3rd or even a 2nd from a desperate team, for him?
Best case would be to be in top 5 in what looks like a good QB class and have a QB needy team sell the farm to move up for the QB they want.

I'm not ready to give up on this season yet to look at the draft next year.... I'm happy with the win and hoping we can play even better next week and win at Miami. Then we can focus on beating the Eagles and sitting at 4-4 at the bye. Teams grow throughout the season... the S.B. winner in February isn't usually the best team in the league in mid October. Besides, who knows how a college player will be come the NFL... look at all the Tank for Tua talk a few years ago... 1. He's not the savior the Dolphins thought... 2. He's one more concussion this year away from being out of football.

False
We have a fairly consistent body of work that is below par in addition to the fact it is absent anything spectacular
That to me says occasional outlier performance is the best we can hope for

As for the first drive yesterday, the biggest play of that drive was Devin White pushing KP after he threw the ball. Otherwise, it ends in a very long FG attempt. KP was solid on it, but it wasn't a "thing of beauty." It was a solid NFL drive. This is your problem. You can't contextualize anything. It is either the best thing ever or the worst thing.

That was our first opening drive TD since Rudolph did it against the Lions last season. It was an impressive drive. You left out Kenny's 10 yard scramble (after Dotson's false start) that put the Steelers in a position to go for it on 4th down, which Warren converted. He hit Claypool for 14 earlier in the drive and was on the money. Was it Ben's drive that won a Super Bowl? No. Do I give a flying fuck that there was a roughing the passer penalty that helped? No because those are a thing. At least these refs actually called roughing after Pickett got bent over last week in Buffalo and screwed royally on at least 2 late hits.
Kenny sealing the deal after that is all that matters.
