What do you guys think they'll name that TD throw?

The Shart in the Dark?

The Beam From The Peen?

.......but seriously, that was a really nice throw.

Too easy.

The final drive is Pickett's charge.

"Rook to Rook got everyone shook"

I did see it was only the 4th time in SB Era where a rookie QB threw a go ahead TD to a rookie and at the time there was less than a minute to go

Watching the Steelers and Kenny Pickett squeak out a win tonight reminds me a lot of my golf game of late.

Slice my opening tee shot into the woods with everyone watching

Shank one in the lake on 2

Plug one in the sand on my favorite par 3

Dent a few more trees and maybe even a porta John

“Uhh Drama, you might want to leave the driver in the bag.”

Worm burn one right in front of the hot beer cart girl

3 putt an easy bird at the turn

At least the hot dogs are good today

“FORE ON 12!!!” MY BAD, BUDDY!

Bounce one down the cart path of the next par 3

FUCK THIS STUPID GAME!

But then at the huge, never ending par 5 to close my miserable round…BOOM!!! I crank one 3 bones (hyperbole) right down broadway

Glorious

All is right with the world

The round wasn’t pretty or even especially fun but it’s that ONE SHOT that will keep me coming back for more.

I’m not sure how much the win means in the ultimate scheme of things but it sure was nice for the fans who braved that weather and a Christmas Eve schedule, and of course for Franco’s family. I guess we’re all kind of Franco’s family, so good on the team for coming through.

It was fun for a while to dream of a top 10 pick in every round, but I guess finishing with just about as bad a draft position as you can get and still not have an especially successful season is very Steelers like, if that’s how it is.

We’re definitely setting up for a peak-Tomlin-football era, where keep it close and find a way to win at the end. Despite some maddening defense and playing for 3rd down on offense, we can count on just enough teams in the NFL to be impatient/make mistakes/not know how to finish games for the Steelers to be borderline relevant.

Either Tomlin is right about this and we are wrong or they’re going to be good with this strategy vs some opponents and wiped out of the yard vs elite teams.

Personally, I like winning big games but pretty much hate with a passion Tomlin football because it’s like draft prospects I avoid: high floor, low ceiling.

IMO the only shot we have of ever getting another Lombardi with Tomlin is a Defense that completely smothers opposing offenses, a once in 15 to 20 years defense.

Forget about offense. Build a defense for the ages. That's our only shot.

Tomlin defenders no longer! The number continues to dwindle.

This has been what we've had for what, the last decade at least right? Good enough to make the playoffs and then get destroyed once we get there. The only difference now without Ben is the regular season record won't be as good and we won't make the playoffs as often. Woohoo. We'll move up a few spots in the draft. Tomlin football without the HoF QB. Nothing has changed. We'll see if the new front offense can keep the defense good enough to allow him to not turn into the Browns.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

On the bright side, there is no reason not to expect that we won’t make the playoffs next year. We won’t have the hardest schedule. Pickett should improve, run game should improve, and we should be able to improve the defense.

Winning the division, winning in the playoffs and/or going deep, that is a horse of a different color.

Until I see the FA and draft additions to the defense I’m taking the under. I think the defense is losing its best CB, it sounds like they’re either going to add the lesser Edmunds or extend Bush, DL is a mess other than a mid 30s star. That’s a lot to fix, and the same numbskull is going to be running it.
