Solid player, versatile, would definitely be a nice depth add. Showed out nicely against my Buckeyes last year. Was one of the best Spartans on the field that game.

I think he's in play with the 3rd round pick.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

Ha. NFL.com says he's no good working in the middle of the field. Lead pipe lock for the Tomlanada offense, it negates his weakness.
Mingo's probably a little better athletically, though doesn't offer the PR versatility, I'll let @ironzabo make the case for Parker Washington at r3.

Palmer, Ford-Wheaton also interesting options in the 4th-6th general vicinity, and maybe you could get Derius Davis later.

I'd have the "most Steelers-like WRs" list something like:Ice wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 3:11 pmHa. NFL.com says he's no good working in the middle of the field. Lead pipe lock for the Tomlanada offense, it negates his weakness.

Parker Washington
Mingo
Trey Palmer
CJ Johnson
Jayden Reed
maybe Hutchinson
Personally, make mine Parker Washington, but he's also not 100% healthy after a bad ankle injury. Medical would be a concern. Mingo and Johnson are real hardcore Ward/JuJu types. Reed a little bit of everything (Sanders); Palmer a guy who gets open, may not always catch it (DJ).

What about A.T. Perry in the 3rd/4th round range?

I really like Perry, and have seen a good bit of him with pads on in ACC play. He's been making Hartman look good for a couple of years. Yeah, @bradshaw2ben I probably should have mentioned that KC will probably end up wanting to Kill Palmer at some point, but he does separate pretty well for where he'll likely end up getting drafted. I had forgotten about Landers till Drama picked him, too. Another late-round potential pick. Some sneaky interesting players at the position in later rounds this year.

What do you B1G guys think of Ronnie Bell. I know he lacks long speed, but he sorta reminds me of DJ with maybe better hands, no? Haven't studied him a bunch; know he was working his way back in '22 from an ACL. He seems to be a short-to-intermediate, outside of the numbers catcher of the football specialist -- right up MT/MC's alley. Maybe a DJ & Hines Ward(team captain) combo type guy?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 3:55 pmI'd have the "most Steelers-like WRs" list something like:Ice wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 3:11 pmHa. Would he be a good fit to replace DJ when he finishes up his current contract in a year or two?

Steeler comp for Bell (going along with B2B's post) is probably James Washington. He's going to have separation issues in the pros.

Thanks, Ice. Interesting. Other than long speed, I really don't see any comparison to JW at all. JW was 20 lbs heavier and not near as agile as Bell. JW was much slower on his get off, too -- with a 1.62 10 yr split.
Bells shuttle (3rd-T best) and 3-cone (8th-T best) were very good for this class of 50 combine WRs (and actually better than DJ's). I know his 40 was a tad slower (4.54), although I thought I read he slipped when running it. His 10 yard split was pretty decent at 1.52 (13th-T best). Certainly not world beater, but not bad for a short-to-intermediate, underneath/sideline catching type of WR -- which is where I see his role. He fights hard for YACs, too -- always falling forward. Strong hands catcher. But, without elite speed, if I squint, I could see some potential separation issues too, I guess.
I see a lot of similarities in his game and how we use DJ, and some of our slot guys, too. I know Bell lined up mostly on the outside (like DJ), but he ran a decent amount of jet sweeps, also. I see him as a possible later round (5th-6th) sleeper for a team/offense like ours. I think his ceiling is WR2-A/B (but, he's most likely a WR3-A), which is a nice return for a 5th/6th round pick.

Probably should have said JW coming out of Okie State, not after the put on weight and got really slow. Short, long arms, not much separation, lot of combat catches... I wouldn't be mad at it in round 6, though, I guess. I just think most of the other guys we've talked about are a little more intriguing as prospects.

We need more speed in the offense. That's why I'm praying Little Calvin comes around this year. But, if he doesn't and instead he's injury prone, then we need more speed.
DJ gets separation, but he's not a burner and doesn't stretch the field. Pickens is more of a combat catch guy than a burner although his speed can be deceptive. We need someone that can really scare and threaten the other teams' safeties. It would open up a ton of room for FREIERMUTH.

I would love for Marvin Mims to still be available in round 3. Then you would have another speedster who is a little bigger than Austin and a better punt returner.

I think Mims can be more than that... He's kind of DJ ish. Could play well on the outside.

Any realistic chance he'd be available at our R3, though?

I haven’t looked at WR much but Jayden Reed is just electric from what I did see. And zero quit in him. I will check out some of these others
For being smallish Reed really looked good with combat catches and really had a cat like reflexive knack for going and getting the ball anywhere near him
And his run after catch ability reminded me of Santonio

Parker is a Steeler Football Player and not a "baller" so not quite sure if that translates well into the Chasm of Colossal Fuck that is Canada and Jibbs 2023 offensive "offensive scheme"
That being said he can go up and get the rock and has the Deebo Samuel mindset when he has secured the pigskin.
NOT to mention all that he was able to accomplish with the wonderful ability of Sean Cliffy Clifford to spin it at such a deplorable level for more Saturdays than I care to recall
That being said - you will dig some Young Parker Washington if they manage to secure his services in RD3.
Do NOT be surprised if and when my man Weidl goes back to the well and secures this savage for the Black and Gold.
Kenny Boy needs all the routes in the book that don't exceed 20 yards that he can possibly muster in order to have a chance at leading us to a Divisional Title let alone a Lombardi

I'll go with this assessment, @ironzabo , and I know your disdain for Pickett comes from the right place
