Was It Worth It?
Picking 21st while the Ravens get a prime 14th. The mediocrity will continue thanks to our NHALS head coach. I can't even mention his name anymore. Picking up numerous veterans to maintain NHALS & dooming us to season after season of the same.
Highest paid defence. Doesn't that mean the oldest defence who get the most tired in the 2nd half of the game along with getting more tired in the 2nd half of the season?

Yes because you had a good time watching this season. LOL
I don't think the talent is as bad or the situation as dire as everyone is wringing their hands over.
We see over and over and over coaches taking over 5-6 win teams and having them compete (as opposed to "participate" like PIT) in the playoffs. It's 1-2 years to turn around a team in today's NFL.
Get a guy who can coach players up and scheme them into favorable situations and you quickly develop a much better view of the talent on this team.

I didn't. Yes, I enjoyed some games but others were unwatchable. Even in the season-ending Baltimore game having to get the win by the other team missing a field goal at game end .... Is it too much to ask for a head coach who can actually game plan, get assistant coaches who can game plan & them all possibly adjust in game &/or at halftime. Is the Steeler way now stuck in the mud futility?TimmayLake wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:57 pmYes because you had a good time watching this season. LOL
No. No it was not. Now I realize there are some here that would sell their soul for one extra week of football.
Not me. I want progress.
I would have preferred our season crumble when it looked like it was going to after that Buffalo loss.
Hoped we didn’t win another game.
But we did. Even squeaked into the playoffs.
Yay.

Oh yeah who doesn’t love being mortified in the playoffs season after season….
But hey, at least our team made the postseason so we gotta be good with that….

There's nothing wrong with enjoying one more week of football. But besides notably the Steelers NOT being "enjoyable" to watch in the playoffs, what's the point when there's absolutely no hope of them competing?
What is one more week of football really worth when you KNOW they are getting smoke? It's not that I want PIT to lose, it's that I want to have HOPE again.

thing is i fall under the team wont fire tomlin umbrella. i just dont think they will. so he has to decide to leave and he wont leave with his ego bruised had he beat texans and pats again i think he may have sailed off with rodgers happily i think losing that game lastnight prolongs his tenure and thats no bueno obviously
You just nailed it: there was an opportunity cost for making the playoffs and that was drafting 7 slots higher..Kodiak wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:18 pmThere's nothing wrong with enjoying one more week of football. So maybe the question should be posed for those who enjoy the extra weekend of football: are you happy exchanging that for moving up 7 picks?
I personally, am not
I love January first round embarrassments
Makes me feel proud and lucky to be a fan of this team
And with Mike T blowing kisses late in the season, you know he’s got something special in mind for all of us

It was worth it to get Rodgers. Because anyone with half an intellect should walk away from this season realizing it takes a generational HOF QB to move this offense, and it has to happen when he turns his ear piece off and does it himself.
And our defense was actually worse.

Like even 10 years ago with Ben I would have said just make the dance and we'll see. They had a shot to be competitive and maybe make noise with him despite Tomlin's ineptitude. But we have just moved so well past what was delusional even then to where I don't see how anyone can really think this shit is worth it.Deebo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 6:03 pmYou just nailed it: there was an opportunity cost for making the playoffs and that was drafting 7 slots higher..Kodiak wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:18 pmThere's nothing wrong with enjoying one more week of football. They aren't competitive come January. They are frauds who have no real business being in the playoffs and most of their recent appearances are only because they expanded the playoff seeding to 7 teams per conference. They might as well have called it the Tomlin expansion because any year he had missed it prior he would have been that 7th seed. Now he is with the exception of this year because the Ravens collapsed relative to their standards.
Make it, don't make it. That extra week isn't worth it because we KNOW - not just speculate or think - but KNOW what the result will be and it's just ugly. These aren't even entertaining games.
I find Swiss's position to be madness at this point in time. It may have held true once and been worthwhile once. It so clearly isn't anymore. Swiss isn't alone in his thoughts on this, but he's the poster boy for it on this site currently which is why I singled him out.
They aren't even making memories at this point. Like, I loved that Tommie Gun comeback against the Browns as a kid. Fun stuff despite losing the next week.
I mean, maybe some have bad memories burned into their brain here, but who wants that? For me the beat downs they get every Wild Card weekend have just all started to blend together into a colossal collage of ineptness.
This game was a thorough failure in every phase.
They were the Washington generals. They were the SD special delivery Jones. They were the Mulkey Brothers if you like that form of wrestling.
Two field goals is all they could get together

"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."
Can anyone remember a single play from that Buffalo beat down two years ago? I sure as fuck can't.
Where's that asshole whose name I can't be bothered to remember who tried to sell us/me on the game actually being competitive?

If I'd have gone to bed at halftime, I could've Schroedingered the mortification till morning and picked up a couple of hours of sleep. Who'd have thought I'd miss getting blown out in the first quarter?Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:16 pmOh yeah who doesn’t love being mortified in the playoffs season after season….

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

This.
The odds are infinitesimal that the Rooney's are ready to part with Dumblin.
Overall the season sucked.
1) I hated the Rogers signing, and it ended on a similar high note to his Jets career.
2) We did boot the Ravens out of the playoffs in exchange for bucket of warm spit in draft position.
3) Tomlin backed into the playoffs and reinforced the fact that he cannot accomplish anything of note without Cowher's players.
