As Tomlin moves on with his life's work, and we wait to see who's next, it seems like a good time to review his exceedingly polished line of BS and discuss our least and most favorite Tomlinisms.

My favorite is still his very public dressing down of Mendenhall

Fair point... there's was often a disconnect between what he spouted at press conferences and what he actually did.

Most of it was meaningless cliches, but I found this one funny and weird at the same time:

I thought it was funny that Art 2 used the word obviously in his press release about Tomlin's resignation. I wonder if that was an intentional nod to Tomlin's constant use of the word or if it just rubbed off on Art 2.

Just brought this up yesterday with someone as half of an analogy attempting to illustrate how little NHALS meant in regards to actual, meaningful winning, and it all fell apart when they'd never even heard of AB's 5/50 streak, which actually did sort of prove my point.

Another killer for me was

We want volunteers not hostages.

As he let numerous quality players just walk away when they got passed and then they were picked up by other teams (often the Pats) and came back to have success against us... think Blount and worst of all Deebo - dude got multiple sacks when he was put in (against the Chiefs I think) and the went right back to riding the bench.

The idea that this guy was some kind of locker room Demosthenes or motivator is laughable. He would blurt out inane platitudes about not living in fears then proceed to spend the rest of the season living in his fears.

As far as his skill with the English language, compare for a moment Tomlin with Yogi Berra.
