I remember a few years ago when Texas A&M was looking to hire a new football coach and came to a deal with then current Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops. The deal was basically agreed upon. But the fans went LIVID. They tweeted, they called, they emailed, they went nuts with how furious they were with the move. And within 24 hours, the deal had fallen apart, and GD was that good for Texas A&M as their current head coach is a hell of lot better than Stoops, whose coaching career just went down the toilet.

So I urge all of us to not just lay down and accept this. Go wild online. Put up the billboards. Run naked onto the field and take a shit at the 50 yard line before you get tackled. At the NFL Draft this year, I want to hear long, loud chants of "sell the team" and overwhelming boos anytime the Steelers are mentioned.

Look? Is McCarthy a terrible coach? No. He'll probably do "okay" here. But his hiring is a gutless and cowardly decision by a FO that huffs their own farts and spits in the face of the fans.

...and I will keep rooting for losses. I want this to blow up in their face. 2-15, bring it the fuck on.

Got tickets? Put in the effort to sell them to opposing team fans. Sacrifice a bit by specifically offering them a discount vs Steelers fans.

Fill that stadium with the other team’s colors. Make the announcers notice.

After 19 years, the frustration just overflowed and people didn’t give a shit anymore. “Fire Tomlin” chants are what finally pushed this train wreck over the cliff.

I’m not mad at McCarthy. It’s not his fault he was hired. But Yinzers will go apeshit quickly on him because they will feel safe to do it, and that’s unfortunate. I hope people take their frustrations out on Art the Lessor. I’ll wait to see who McCarthy brings in to build his staff. I’m hoping he succeeds. I couldn’t take another year of Tomlin.

Steeler fans also quickly hated on Pickett. I wasn’t one of them because Pickett didn’t draft himself and he didn’t hire Matt Canada to be his OC. But heaven forbid they address the coach that orchestrated it all.

I’m also hoping that since McCarthy has a relationship with Weidl, the hire might keep Andy in house. He’s the only guy I trust in the front office. Khan is an idiot, and without Weidl, I think he will be quickly exposed.

This organization is dysfunctional and I’ve been saying it for years. Too many nepo hires, too many nepo players. If it worked, no one would care. It doesn’t work.

Mike McCarthy can get some bonus points if he convinces Cam to retire and take his nepo brother with him. If Cam wants to stick around, fine. Cut baby brother anyway. Start cutting away the Tomlin sycophants.

The best news is, McCarthy doesn’t have that bullshit NHALS albatross hanging around his neck. A 5-12 season and a high draft pick in 2027 would also be a successful season to me. I don’t need a young wunderkind to be on the sidelines for that.
