McCarthy Press Conference?
Anyone have any idea when/if this is happenning. Has anyone seen any reactions/quotes online from current Steelers to this hiring? If there has been I've missed it. Isn't that odd?
Lev Bell made a statement…..basically saying we are gonna gonna go 4-13 but at least Mike Tomlin isn’t the HC anymoreGreeksteel wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 2:25 pmAnyone have any idea when/if this is happenning. His attempt at sarcasm didn’t work for me
Lev probably just mad he's the one guy Tomlin didn't get paid.
Except he did - remember that horrid contract that Lev thankfully turned down as insulting? You know, before signing a year later for less money with NYJ.
Otherwise I think everyone that played on a different team knows what a clown show Tomlin was.
Old Lev might be the stupidest human on the planet…either him or Mendenhal!.Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 2:49 pmLev probably just mad he's the one guy Tomlin didn't get paid.

I don't know if I can even call Bell the dumbest Steeler from that era. There's some pretty fierce competition. Perhaps a case of iron sharpens iron here I don't know.Jobu wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 3:59 pmOld Lev might be the stupidest human on the planet…either him or Mendenhal!.Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 2:49 pmLev probably just mad he's the one guy Tomlin didn't get paid.

Also, I don't have a lot of sympathy for Ben particularly as I get to here his hot takes now and then. But imagine having to listen to fucking Antonio Brown's crazy ass and Leveon Bell's stupidity for a full fucking season. Would have broken plenty of human minds I believe.

Man that guy wasted a career.
I don’t think Mendenhall was stupid in the traditional sense like say Martavis Bryant.anpsteel wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 8:07 pmBetween those two I think mendenhall wins easilyJobu wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 3:59 pmOld Lev might be the stupidest human on the planet…either him or Mendenhal!.Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 2:49 pm

Mendenhall is intelligent. It’s just his world view is all fucked up and he knows so many things that simply aren’t true.
Stupid? No.
Dumb fucking lemming that drank waaaaaay too much Kool-Aid and is too stubborn/uninformed to change his thinking? Absolutely.
Complete douchbag? 100%.
From what I've heard of him since his crash out from the league, I think pseudo-intellectual encapsulates Mendenhall quite nicely.955876 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 2:03 amI don’t think Mendenhall was stupid in the traditional sense like say Martavis Bryant.

And he fumbled in the Super Bowl with the Steelers in position to take the lead
I mean, to be blunt Mendenhall could say whatever dumb shit he'd want and embraced by Steelers fans for the rest of his life without that fumble had they won. He was a big part of winning against the Jets.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 4:18 amAnd he fumbled in the Super Bowl with the Steelers in position to take the lead
But he did fumble, and then he started spouting real dumb shit. I'd love to know the specific reason why he hates Ben so much. There's probably a pretty funny story there honestly but he's too gutless to just be frank about it. It could just be he's a race baiting fuck with deep insecurities in general who hated the free pass given to the white QB while he was lambasted by Steelers fans and basically cast off the team after. Could be something deeper, though. Maybe Ben beat him in a game of pick-up basketball and talked trash or something.
I personally don't think there's any real intelligence there. I don't even know if I'd go as far as to call him a pseudo-intellectual as I think he's even more fraudulent at that. He's a guy who heard other people a tad smarter than him (I mean that sincerely) spout nonsense about race and then tried to just imitate them real poorly to add the veneer of victimhood and principle to what he was already feeling. A pseudo-intellectual would throw around the buzzwords they've heard as some form of flex and things like that.drmalba wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 3:19 amFrom what I've heard of him since his crash out from the league, I think pseudo-intellectual encapsulates Mendenhall quite nicely.955876 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 2:03 amI don’t think Mendenhall was stupid in the traditional sense like say Martavis Bryant.

Mendenhall is a dope who just starts ranting about how white people shouldn't have opinions on sports and shit. He's not even smart enough to remember the jargon to doll that shit up a bit.
Are the rumors true that this is going to be held at a local Outback Steakhouse?

This is one of the more IMO, solomonic articles out there right now.

I’m beginning to believe the wrong individual retired from his position and the longer dunce remains in power the worse things will become.

Snip:Just don’t bring back Rodgers. If people really are concerned about McCarthy being nothing more than a different version of Mike Tomlin, the quickest way to manifest that belief into reality would be to bring back a 42-year-old quarterback who doesn’t appear to have enough left in the tank to elevate this club above its current level of perpetual mediocrity.
Must get embarrassing at some point when Rooney recounts how his ignorant statements are perceived and dismissed as fecklessness. Finally …
”We decided to bring Mike on because we believe that he’s the right coach for us at this point to help lead us to a championship,” Rooney said.
Did you? Or did you simply pick the guy who was the most likely to prevent you from dipping below .500 in 2026?

People are kidding themselves if they don't think having Mediocre Mike in his ear for the last two decades helped bring us to this point.
McDermott was a guy fired for speaking truth to his owner/GM.
Tomlin by all appearances was more of a yes man or a guy who exploited his retarded owner's insecurities. He spent every off-season telling Art II that the Steelers were a few pieces away from really breaking through and Art II believed it because he wanted to and it definitely influenced this hire.
In some sense, going in a different direction with a young guy pushing change would have been a refutation of at least the back half of the Tomlin era and all the shit Art II has been trying to sell to fans every off-season.
But yea make no mistake Tomlin helped get us to this place and needed to go. Time will flush all these turds, but that isn't a guarantee of anything better unfortunately.
LOL, that's what we want! Come on!a 42-year-old quarterback who doesn’t appear to have enough left in the tank to elevate this club above its current level of perpetual mediocrity
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."
Mendenhall, on a couple of occasions that I recall, did some weird dry humping of Ben, while Ben was on the turf, after being tackled.CKSteeler wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 4:58 amI mean, to be blunt Mendenhall could say whatever dumb shit he'd want and embraced by Steelers fans for the rest of his life without that fumble had they won. Please allow me to correct.
Only half of the franchise’s problem retired.
Yea I don't know what that was. Looked like he was making sure the ball was covered and then starts doing that towards the end. Don't know if he would have lasted with the Steelers even without the fumble.
