Buccaneers take another hit: Jamel Dean to sign with Steelers
Not only did the Buccaneers lose Mike Evans, but one of their top corners will also be leaving in free agency after Jamel Dean made the decision to sign with the Steelers.

Dean, who was one of the top corners on the market, is getting a three-year, $36.75 million deal, according to NFL Media. The Steelers have been busy today fortifying their secondary. They started the day off by re-signing Asante Samuel Jr., and now, they've added Dean. That duo will join Joey Porter Jr. in a Steelers' secondary that suddenly feels like one of the team's strengths.
"Tomlin has never appreciated the role of scheme and play call in the ability for player's to execute" Kodiak.

He’s a good player but it’s more treading water with a veteran roster. They aren’t any closer to a title or building a contender by signing a 30 year old CB and WR today.

Also does not count vs the comp formula.

I saw a quote that because the Bucs shortened his contract last year his signing does not count for Tampa or against the Steelers.

As @gregauman
observed earlier today, signing Jamel Dean will not count against the Steelers nor in favor of the Bucs for the 2027 compensatory formula due to having his previous contract shortened via renegotiation.

Dean is one of the better corners in the league. This is a great signing. And the Steelers won’t be hindered by the Austin/Tomlin defensive schemes.

Thanks. Didn’t know that.

That’s nice but I’m not sure any of our free agents this year will return more than a 6th/7th round pick anyway.

Don't scoff at 6th round picks. Future HOFer Will "my tits are bigger than my mom's" Howard says hi. :D

Don’t forget, without a 6th round pick we would’ve been deprived of the excellence that is Connor Heyward.

Every 6th round pick we’ve had for the past 20 years has been a bust aside from Vince Williams and AB.

If you’ve seen Howard’s mom…his tits are definitely not bigger….nor is anything else for that matter…just an innocent observation :ugeek:

This is best we can hope for as long as dunce is still captaining of the ship….

The hopes for a rebuild [even a soft rebuild] are shot to shit while he maintains his position.
