the offense's job is to score enough points. Any thoughts about bleeding clock or protecting the defense come AFTER the scoring points part... unless you coach like a dumbfuck.

Sure, you can get away with that stupid strstegy if you have a stellar defense, a QB who is world-class in 4th quarter comebacks/GW drives, and you're playing inferior teams. But even then, simple mistakes and turnovers kill you, so you have to be perfect at all times.
