Good point.
Week 15 Games
I don't know if Mahomes usually does this, but a lot of times when he's scrambling he will plant his foot and EVERY TIME the rusher overpursues.
Nice to have Dobbs who can at least imitate the mobility.

Down ten and you go for a bomb on third and two? WTF?

NFL football - a lot of teams and QB's like to attack 1-on-1 on the outside on 3rd and short. Board apparently only notices when Ben does it.

The Chiefs struggled big time vs. Denver 2 weeks ago.Obviously wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:22 amNope I don't kid about the Tomlin-era Steelers, and I'm not just talking about 2020.Pabst wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 11:08 pm
You're kidding, right?
The Packers got blown out by the Vikings earlier this year, and they needed to come from behind to beat Jacksonville.
The Chiefs struggled mightily in both Raiders games, needed OT to get past the Chargers, and they trailed at halftime to both Denver and Carolina.
The fell behind Miami 10-0 early in last weeks game. As we would say around here, they were "easing into it".
Week 2 - Beat Denver led by Jeff Driskel by five at home.
Week 9 - Down by 10 to the Garrett Gilbert-led Cowboys after three quarters, and scored 15 in the final quarter to squeak by by five points.
Week 12 - Mightily struggled against a Ravens team without Lamar Jackson and a bunch of other starters due to COVID protocol. Tenderfoot Trace McSorley with a late TD pass to Marquise Brown to make us all sweat.
Week 13 - Lost to the 4-7 team formerly known as the Redskins.

It ended in a TD, so whatever.
I know others do it, but really. I guess they have plays in their back pocket - unlike the steelers. . .

2 timeouts + 2 minute warning.
But, Mahomes.
Do you onsides kick or kick deep?

Rams, down 3 late and on the edge of FG range, threw deep on 3rd and 4 and 4th and 4.
I agree on kicking it deep. Can't give it to Mahomes at the 50 yard line.

We have those plays, too. You'll just have to wait until the second quarter of the SB to see them.

Me: Provides several examples of Chiefs and Packers playing down to sub par opponents

You can just acknowledge that KC and GB have also struggled and move on.
Doesn't matter when one first down wins the game. With the 2-min warning and 3 TO's, I probably try the onside kick.

All I can say is that if anybody faces the chiefs, take out kelche. Hill. end of offense.

Ok, good luck taking them out.
Do you mean with coverage, or Nancy Kerrigan style?

I hear you but it’s damn near impossible to take Kelce out of the game. He’s too fluid, too good a blocker and I don’t think there is a TE in the league that gets better release than him. But yeah, if he gets hurt or something, it’s a whole nother’ offense for sure. He’s the integral piece.

I never said KC and GB didn't but go ahead and put words in my mouth.
I only care about the Steelers, and if you don't think the Steelers haven't been playing down to the level of subpar opponents over the course of the Tomlin era then you haven't been watching.

My question is whether it happens to Tomlin significantly more than it happens to other good teams. To determine this, you would need to go back and study the last umpteen years and see what happened every time a good team played a bad team and get a percentage for how often the good team struggled or outright lost to the bad team vs how often it happens to Tomlin. Since I doubt you've done this research, I don't think you can say that Tomlin is worse at it than other coaches.Obviously wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 1:03 amYeah that's how the conversation went.Pabst wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:51 amYou: The Packers and Chiefs don't play down to their opponentsObviously wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:45 am

I get where Obviously is coming from...fair or not. I couldn’t care less that Sean McVay and the Rams lost to the Jets today, but if Tomlins Steelers lose to Cinci tomorrow...yeah, I’m gonna have a problem with that.El Kabong wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 1:09 amMy question is whether it happens to Tomlin significantly more than it happens to other good teams. Research how many other playoff caliber coaches have watched their teams lose to squads QB'd by Brady Quinn, Bruce Gradkowski, Terrell Prior and Mike Glennon twice.
