I don't want to invest 28-30M on Aiyuk when it could cost us the ability to land a future Franchise QB

Browns are going for it with the highest guaranteed contract in the history of the NFL and the reigning defensive player of the year

If only we were able to hang on to Kenny for his trade value.

Waking up to see the Steelers are reportedly out on Aiyuk is disheartening.

I wanted that dude

Badly

Will be interesting to see what kinda haul the 49ers end up with.

I want to be able to say “Good, glad Khan didn’t overpay” rather than “DAMMIT! Stains got a steal!”

And yes I want the Steelers to one day draft their next franchise QB

But

I see a team nye an organization that wants to win

NOW

With or without Aiyuk the Steelers won’t be picking anywhere near the range needed to draft a bonafide franchise qb.

This isn’t the NHALS mindset I'm seeing

Usually I want the Steelers to cling to their draft capital

But

I want a “We’re going for it” trade"

Ideally it’s a WR, but any impact player will make my day

From reading the tea leaves ( AKA twitter), Aiyuk says he wants to go to Pittsburgh. The 49'ers NEED compensation that helps them THIS SEASON so it is less about draft picks. Sounds like Pittsburgh said no to trading Pickens for Aiyuk which is the impasse.

I think it is funny that Cleveland is trying to deal for him. The rumor is trading Cooper plus an Oline starter ( Conklin?) and a 3rd. When you will be $84M over the cap next season what is adding $21M in dead money(for Cooper) plus another $15M in salary going to hurt?

If the Browns rumor is true, they are going all in for this year and burn the house down.

Aiyuk can essentially block any trade by not agreeing to a potential new team contract offer. He also doesn’t give a shit what the 49ers get for him.

If he prefers Pittsburgh (who possibly may be offering more $$ anyway) he can force the 49ers to keep him or force the 49ers to take whatever the Steelers were offering. The 49ers def don’t have the leverage in their dispute.

Which is why GMs were saying that Lynch over played his hand and should have traded him during the draft. He has less value now for other teams and 49'er will get less in return.

That’s all true: with what’s stipulated if Aiyuk doesn’t want to go to CLE or NE then these frameworks don’t really matter. If he really wants to be in PIT he’s either with us or he’s catching passes from Purdy next year.

Which is what I have been saying all along. If he does not want to go to Cleveland or NE then it does not matter what they offer. If he wants to go to Pittsburgh and SF does not like what the Steelers are offering then he is staying in SF for a year. Wild cards could be the Commanders but again, Aiyuk has to want to go there.

The way I see it: it's down to a pissing contest between Aiyuk and the SF brass.

Aiyuk wants to get paid the most he can (especially G$), while not staying in SF and risking a career/season ending injury that will affect his future earning potential -- AND only making $14M this year.

SF, if they have to lose him now, wants the highest return value they can get for Aiyuk, their WR1. They are also okay paying him $14M, keeping him to make a run this year, and getting a late round 3 comp pick after the season.

At some point Aiyuk is gonna have to decide to play nice with SF if his ultimate goal is to get paid AND SF is gonna have to play nice if its ultimate goal is getting the most it can back (all, for both sides, within what is being offered from the suitors).

Who blinks first?

Any team that has the cash, and want's to be a fly in the ointment, could offer Aiyuk the biggest contract (with less in comp for SF).

Should be interesting, but I don't expect us to be participating in these types of games -- it's not who we are (have been, at least).

Aiyuk has been on Tiktok saying " why would I want to go to a 4 win team?" Meaning NE.

I think someone else had said that if he wants to get above market value, it will be NE but it sounds like he wants a QB.

Can't see it being Conklin. He is 30 years old coming off his 4th season ending knee injury (and he's still on the PUP list) plus that contract is a total albatross. San Fran would be crazy to trade for him. Glancing around some Cleveland media sites, it seems that Wyatt Teller would be the more likely trade target.

Otherwise, yeah - Cleveland is going full YOLO and running up the credit card to win now.

There's really not a huge incentive for us to trade for Aiyuk. With ~40 legit WR1 or WR2s (GP will be WR1 in MT's offense) being available via FA and the draft after this year (yes, I know 4-8 of those top ones will get re-signed by their current teams), I don't see the FO wanting/needing to be major players for Aiyuk right now; it just doesn't make sense. And, while MT doesn't always make sense, Khan/Weidl seem to -- so far at least.

No worries. Like Tomlin, I use my gut and I have a good feeling we’re gonna land him.

Rumor is SF may be drumming up the NE and Cleveland rumors to push Pittsburgh to offer more. Heard Pittsburgh offered a second and James Daniels. (Mind you I’ve read all of this on the internet so it must be true!)

Who knows at this point?

Guess time will tell. 🤞🏻

I'm maybe reaching a little, but it seems like Pitt is extremely high on Pickens or else he'd be gone, correct?

A 2nd and James Daniels is a deal I would make.
Daniels plugs right in if its OG they looking for.
They can use the 2nd to trade for another player if they choose

But how much $ to extend BA?
I am out of touch on what these WRs are getting now....
And I know its stupit money...

is he in the $18-22 range?
$22-25?
$25-30?

3 years
4 years

How much guaranteed?
$30,40, 50 million
$60-70

I can not see them making him the highest paid Steeler.
Or top 2

So the issue hodling it up, as I understand it, is specifically what San Fran wants, not what Aiyuk wants

If San Fran keeps him, they will end up with a 2026 3rd round Comp pick, plus they keep a top tier WR on the roster at 50% going rate, for one more season

I imagine the Steelers aren’t willing to give up more than a 2025 2nd round pick, with no players

I think San Fran wants a player and a pick.

Just my take away

While I would love to have Aiyuk on the team, I’m not paying that price.

and honestly, San Fran has little motivation to make a trade unless it’s wildly in their favor

So I really don’t see it happening

Exactly
San Fran was offered the 34 pick in last year draft. They said no. They want a first. Steelers are not giving up a first. San Fran is going for Super Bowl. They can not do anything. He will play then leave and they get third rounder comp. That is better for them than taking a second and not having a great player for a Super Bowl run this year. They rather do that.

Pittsburgh media who is saying a second and Calvin. Austin or whoever is not going to cut it.

This isn’t madden. I don’t care if the receiver wants to at for the Steelers only. He will practice week one and niners will use him and take the third round comp. That is better than 2nd rounder and scrub. When you are going for a Super Bowl.

Not sure why a lot of people including 93.7 the fan in piitsburgh doht get that.

The pick swap for Kenny was better value than the Bears or Pats got for Fields/McCorkle. Possibly (no pick value chart in front of me) than SF got for Lance.

With the tape on him, it's a feather in Omar's cap, honestly.

I thinks it's a combo of pick(s) and players. If it happens, the Steelers will give up a pick in the 25 draft (a 2nd), a player, and a pick in 26 (3rd). That's my guess. They don't want Cleveland to get him either which will drive up their offer.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

Highsmith came back to earth last year and his stats should be much better with one of the greatest pass rushers in NFL history on the other side.

We don’t, however, have a capable replacement on the roster at present. Herbig is too small and will likely remain a pass rush specialist for his career. I guess they could add another cast off and go with Herbig, Golden and whoever they add, but there will be a drop off at that position. An all hands on deck approach might work but it’s dangerous.

No way on earth they move Porter Jr. Zero chance.
