Oooh he threw Dunbar under the bus.

Interesting the only time he ever even intimated something was a "coaching problem" was with a coach whose contract is up.

And he knows we have to address the offense but hope it's "not at the expense of the defense".

Like the hundred million or so dollars you've poured into the defense has yielded spectacular returns, Art?

The more I hear, the worse it is.

Unfortunately, TB, there's gonna likely be a couple or three weeks next year where I inevitably get suckered in if the season follows its usual cycle. Not sure I'm going in with my customary cautious optimism, though.

I'm not big on the game threads, anyway, though.
I’m not going to any games, buying any merchandise, or supporting them in any way aside from rooting for a spectacular embarrassment of a season. It’s the only thing that can spark a change. Any good Steelers fan should want them to implode massively next year. Nothing changes until Tomlin is gone. Tomlin isn’t gone without a huge failure season.
My head gets it, my heart gets temporarily suckered at some point. Emotional muscle memory.

I've actually had to politely a few friends and colleagues to please get me Ohio State or Pitt swag for sports related gifts over the last few years.

Speaking of big NFL stories...

So do you all remember in the original Ace Ventura: Pet Detective where the plot is that the beloved Dolphins mascot and halftime attraction Snowflake the Dolphin is kidnapped before the Super Bowl, and Ace has to find the kidnappers and rescue Snowflake before the big game?

So what about this tantalizing hypothetical...

So this week there is a breaking news alert on every news outlet across the country: Patrick Mahomes has been kidnapped! And not only that, but ISIS is claiming to be responsible. We're talking shockwaves across the world. How could this have happened? Will he be returned? Will the game be postponed? Two days after the kidnapping, ISIS releases a video showing Mahomes shackled in a cave. His captors are laughing wildly while Mahomes begs for mercy. At the end of the video, they announce that on Super Bowl Sunday they will be live streaming Mahomes being beheaded.

As it's the Super Bowl and the money machine behind it, the game is a go and full steam ahead. The week or so leading up to the game is basically 24/7 non-stop news. U.S. agencies and allied resources are scouring the globe trying to find and rescue Mahomes.

So, Super Bowl Sunday finally arrives. The hope of rescuing Mahomes before the game is long gone. Now, the world is tuned into the ISIS live stream and a countdown clock, set to expire one hour before the game kicks off. When the live stream starts, the world then watches ISIS methodically torture Mahomes over the course of half an hour, leading to Mahomes then being beheaded, and then his body set on fire while the ISIS captors gleefully and literally piss on his burning corpse.

Can you all think of any story larger than that?

Rooney pretty much destroyed my emotional muscle memory.

If the Eagles with Penn Stater Saquon end the Chiefs' shot at a threepeat, that will complete the job.

Art statement today should not shock anyone. Things are not going to change until there is an empty Stadium. If Art truly believe the BS he said this franchise is in trouble.

For anyone on here that is even thinking of rooting for wins and cheering this team on next September, you are part of the problem.

And if you're feeling nostalgic or just froggy and decide to pep up and start some rah-rah bullshit in the game threads, you better be ready to legit fight me one-on-one. I'll gladly meet up with anyone on here for some bare knuckle action in the parking lot outside of Aldi. You see this shopping cart here that I made my bitch? Imma make your lumbar spine even look worse.

And I didn't even return it to the cart corral son.

And for the record, I fight dirty. I kick. I bite. I go for the balls. And yeah, so what if I get an awkward boner at some point? It's a rush. It is what it is. And afterwards, I'll gladly by you a drink and we can talk about life and the power of deep tissue massage therapy.
Don’t you get it, yet, TB? Tomlin is too good to lose a bunch of games. 8-8 with Hodges and Mason. There will be no bottom has fallen out seasons. We have the true nightmare scenario: ownership content with high floor low ceiling product and probably the best coach in the history of the sport at delivering a high floor low ceiling product. Permanent purgatory.

It's all propaganda, anything they report now can be certainly viewed as groupthink propaganda

This franchise is in major tailspin. And ART is to blame. He's a weak fucking man

I think the issue is Rooney and Tomlin care more about perception than reality. Making a change to take that next step could be a step backward. For Tomlin, he's afraid of tarnishing all he has - NHALS. For Rooney, it's fear of replacing Tomlin, having a losing season and being criticized for firing a "HOF coach".

These guys are stuck being mediocre because they're deftly afraid of becoming worse than mediocre.

This is what is being discussed now that Jim opened the can of worms. Their thoughts and what is happening in reality. they are afraid of upsetting Dan and Art Jr (RIP) legacies of winning post Noll. This reaks of failure and "living in their fears" It think this kind of thinking will shrink the ever shrinking NFL fanbase, and Steelers fanbase for sure.

How can these idiots be so short sighted.

Here is the 93.7 fan segment i mentioned earlier with Starkey

He sounds like all of us just flabberghasted of how no scrotum Art 2 has - segment called " Is Art 2 afraid of life after Tomlin?"

https://www.audacy.com/stations/937thef ... b35bf19ab4

and next one during show (Is Art Rooney 2 frustrated with lack of winning in playoffs?)

The twitter poll I saw earlier asked, who was more to blame for the state of the team, Art Rooney II or Mike Tomlin.

With several thousand votes, mid afternoon, Rooney was winning (losing) apx 70% to 30%

"Starkey: It should be Rooney II, but he has given Tomlin so much power that the answer at the moment is Tomlin. As Adam Schefter recently pointed out, Tomlin has the most powerful voice in the organization. It’s his baby."

Well, there's proof. This is Tomlin's team, and Tomlin's team hasn't done squat since Cowher's coaches and players left.

Coach Mike might be spending more time with corporate politics than game planning.

He is a stereotypical manager. I’ve seen people like him before. A backstabbing weasel.

So, So True. I'm tired of hearing Steelers fans & media pundits not put any blame at Jibbas feet (most blame Colbert). Jibba built this team, and he needs to take full responsibility for the failures. Unreal. Just look at the last 10 drafts and our 1st RD picks. Disgusting

Starkey (or some other PPG writer) also claimed Tomlin was the one that wanted Pickett and pushed hard for it. We assumed it was Colbert, but I would guess Tomlin had at least an equal share of that with Colbert and Rooney

and a prediction -- the Steelers will try and deflect blame and move the conversation away from Tomlin and Rooney.
They will double down on their stop the run chorus ... they will hint at big FA signings at DT and WR.
Yet, IMO neither will happen.
They will close their eyes and cross their fingers and hope people will forget, come back, spend money and magically a playoff win will appear.

They will re-sign Justin Feilds, draft WR and DL and make some half ass FA signing also at DL , WR and RB. No way I see Tomlin tieing his NHALS next year to a rookie RB, WR or QB.

I think its pretty obvious now the dynamic -- Rooney is buying what Tomlin is selling.
