Again, you see things as very black and white. Purdy was literally born into the Royal Family. The advantages he was handed as a rookie are damn near unheard of. Stars (literally fucking STARS) at every position. Especially and most importantly, in the coaching department.

I have given Purdy plenty of props for taking advantage of these incredible advantages and he’s played great.

Pickett is likely already ruined by the supporting cast and coaching he walked into. I could go specifically through the total shittiness of everyone involved in the Steelers offense but the two most important to Pickett’s likely failure are Matt Canada and Mike Tomlin.

Despite having a pretty fucking shitty supporting cast, Pickett looked promising as last year wore on. Didn’t turn the ball over and made a bunch of winning plays (I’m not talking about only final drive TD’s.) He isn’t doing that anymore. Last year Freiermuth was a major key to Kenny’s success. Pickett stood in and found Freiermuth for several key throws. This year Freiermuth is a ghost. If he isn’t hurt, he still isn’t on the field. The avoidance of Pickett and the middle of the field is intentional because the coaching staff is all about Pickett avoiding mistakes instead of making plays.

Well Kenny isn’t turning the ball over and he isn’t making plays anymore. I almost wonder if Mike Tomlin likes it this way because he looks to have coached the playmaking out of Pickett and now, the running game is all they have.

Even funnier, they don’t have a veteran QB that can help Pickett work through these struggles or a guy they can play a few games so Pickett can get his feet back under him.

They have Mitch Trubisky so Pickett is going to have to figure things out for himself. With this coaching staff and with Matt Canada calling plays, good luck Kenny. You’re gonna need it.

…..and that goes for the next guy too, if Pickett is replaced and Canada and Tomlin are retained.
