Archer in the 3rd

Is like

Hill in the 5th.

Both could be had 2 rounds later.

And Perch...here is my wager...

If Hill is taken in the 5th or earlier, I get the infamous STD dick-sickle avatar.

If he is taken in 7th or not drafted, HI5 has his permanent ban lifted until he does something to get banned again. Which should be 5 minutes after the ban is removed.

Maybe. Maybe not. Depends if you like the player enough to make sure you get him. All it takes is one other GM who values the player as much as you do.

Awful argument. Hill is a very talented WR with top size, production, and measurables from a Power 5 conference. Archer was a gadget smurf from the MAC, and had the Steelers not taken him he would have come off the board in the next 20-30 picks.

I haven't seen you discuss Austin Hill's skill set at all. Are you reading a draft rankings page somewhere and seeing a 7th round grade by his name? A lot of those same publications had him as a future 1st or 2nd rounder before his injury a year ago.

Yep....seen him with 7th Rd grades in 2 overviews of his draft profile.

Have I done my Hill research? Prob enough to understand he is coming off an ACL, indicates his straight line speed is reduced, but yes...I saw the Biletnekoff stuff.

So you have to take into consideration the injury and the decreased production. Has nice size.

FWIW this statement is most likely false irt Archer.

Archer would not have lasted past the chiefs 4th rounder, where they picked D'Anthony Thomas.

For all the bitching and moaning about the Archer pick, most of which i agree with, the complaint that the steelers "reached" is the one that is off base. he was valued by most as a 3rd/4th round pick, and he was on many top 100 lists.

Great draft for the Steelers so far, and I"m on board with Hill. In the 5th round it's worth taking a risk on an injured player with 2nd/3rd round potential.

We talked on the podcast about the difference between Arik Armstead and Henry Anderson being minimal. Ditto that for Jaelen Strong and Austin Hill. You get a similar player several rounds later in the draft.

Exactly. Pretty funny how much Strong is getting talked up. There is some tape against equal compettition that makes Strong look not so much, and Hill look like at least a mid-round pick. As to the lost footspeed thing, what, exactly was Hines Ward's 40 time coming out of UGA?

Foot speed and production.

Not looking it up, but guessing Ward's last year of production and overall body of work > Hill.

Trying to call anyone taken beyond the 4th round a reach is silliness. Total crap shoot after 4th round. On a rare occasion you might get a Kiesel type, even rarer an AB but most of the time you end up with a core STer at best and at worst a Shaq Richardson.

True that...not every day a Daniel Sepulveda is available in the 4th.

How about digging up IC and pre-lifting Clemson's next ban?

Doesn't matter. Hill won't be going UDFA or 7th round.

I saw somewhere that he was rated the 36th best WR in this draft.

Assume first 6 rounds 6 wr's are selected in each round and it becomes possible.

If nothing else it adds more excitement for me cause I don't want the dreaded STD dick-sicle.

I know it's almost taboo here to ask what happened to someone or ask why they got banned......

But....

What did happen to IC?

I wouldn't pay too much attention to talking heads draft rankings. They vary wildly, and I doubt any of them watch as much tape as some of the posters on this site.

If he goes to Baltimore, and I expect he will go exactly at this spot, I'm going to be an unhappy fan for a while.

Who are the top tape scrubbers here?

I'm limited to YouTube highlights.

Gavin Lutman, WR, Pittsburg St

Pabst, that's a good find. Sure, it's D2 tape but that kid can pretty much do it all.

I just realized I'm done. The San Diego Super Chargers final 2015 Steelerfury Mock Draft selections:

1.17 Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE/OLB, UCLA
2.48 Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma
3.83 T. J. Yeldon, RB, Alabama
4.117 Za'Darious Smith, DE, Kentucky
5.153 Craig Mager, CB, Texas State
6.192 Geremy Davis, WR, Connecticut

Don't see Yeldon lasting as long as he did here. I don't mind Owa that high either because he's an ass kicker. Would be pumped if the Steelers took him at 22.

I like the snagging of Odighizua early and I like the finish with two great late picks. Until next year, JL
