Uh...why? James has made his fair share of clutch plays this season.

What information can James give them that they don't already have the ability to learn through film study?

Apparently there's also a rule against implementing new plays/strategies over the next 3 weeks.

I'm sad to see Harrison go too, but this is still a top 10 defense and James barely saw the field this year. The freakout is way out of proportion with the actual impact this will have.

Based on a shitty rule. 3 years ago that's a game winner. I hardly blame that play on James being "un-clutch" or fucking up.

We don't beat Baltimore the 2nd time if it weren't for him.

They're weak in that spot though. Steelers brain trust should have forseen this; maybe they think it's a non-issue. Maybe Deebo was too much a malcontent. All we need to see....#92 putting heat on Ben in the AFCCG.

Brain trust? Hahahahahahaha

Don't like the rule but if we have to go to Gillette and we lose, that's on James.

I mean, people hate Toussaint for the Denver playoff loss (and rightfully so), James has to be at fault for the Pats loss.

Just gotta hope they upgrade that position in April.

Toussaint fumbling in the playoffs is completely different than a call that was overturned on very little evidence.

I'd be happy with an upgrade there, but James has had a damn fine season.

According to Tomlin article on the matter Harrison was least important player on roster. Everyone else more important. I’d be fine with the decision if I also agreed with our coach. But I don’t.

McCullers plays even less and also doesn’t play teams. He likely won’t even be back next season so what is the loss there?

Harrison was nice insurance. McCullers is nothing more than a wasted spot. Especially if you consider he wasn’t even first or second man up in event of an injury along the dline.

Harrison was.

Tomlin shown before he isn’t very good at contingency planning.

His experience alone was worth hanging onto him as the games gets bigger. We do have two talented but inconsistent first rounders at his position. If I’m a coach I want a guy like Harrison around to be in their ears. One tip could make a difference. Hey T.J., the tackle has been doing this all game. Try this...

Not getting that from Big Dan.

The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

Nah, the ball was on the ground. There's plenty of photographic evidence out there if you look.

I feel for James, just like I felt for Toussaint. Frankly, James' fuck up was worse than Toussaint's because Toussaint was a 4th string player forced into action.

James was a trusted vet who plays a ton.

Decent player who made a massive mistake. That can't be denied.

Harrison would have been of some utility had he been allowed to play the other side for Dupree or Chickillo. At this point of his career, he's clearly not good enough to usurp Watt. But apparently, according to the braintrust, that is beyond his skillset.

He might be of some use to an enemy who has the stupidity to use him correctly. And I'm also not wild about the Pats gleaning our defensive audibles, although my guess is that they already have them.

I expect them to pick Harrison's brain and never sign him.

I guess I just don't see the massive mistake. Unless you consider him reaching for the TD the mistake because that's ultimately why it was "incomplete". But to put it in context again, 3 years ago and we're talking about how great of a play that was.

Do people honestly think they've just lucked into never having a losing season? Lucked into 4 straight playoff appearances and 3 division titles in the last 4 years? Lucked into the 2nd best record in football this year? They're currently #2 in Vegas to win the Super Bowl. And all of this is AFTER rebuilding a near dynasty level team from 2004-2011.

Either the Steelers are the absolute luckiest franchise in existence or some people's expectations are completely out of whack.

The players all know the rule (why Belichick doesn't let his receivers dive like that). James wasn't a victim. He knows you have to keep control of the ball when you go to the ground.

He didn't. It's really as simple as that.

Amazingly predictable coffee reference too. Aren't you like twice my age too?

Anyhoo, back on topic.

Harrison couldn't see the field to act like he's suddenly going to make some huge difference is much more akin to bedwetting than it is to being a smart, informed fan.
