More like the better the Steelers are, the less likely they will be to lose to bottom feeders.

yeah, we didn't lose against the Bucs and Jets, it was just a bad dream. Besides losing against teams like that is the sign of a great team.

The difference the past few years is: the defense has coughed up the leads he gave them and or doesn't keep it close enough for the great comeback/4th Q winning drives artist to get a shot at the end.

The end.

Do you want us to go game by game of that 2008 regular season and talk about how dynamic that offense was, or wasn't?

What part of had a perfect passer rating in game 1, got hurt when his doofus OG let the league's most feared pass rusher run free and pile drive the QB into the ground and suffered a shoulder injury that medical people at the time speculated might knock him out for the entire season but played with it and won the Super Bowl with a legendary drive/play for the ages don't you understand?

Don't have to remind me of that game. 38-10 without even looking at a box score. James Harrison 3 sacks against a rookie LT. Zack Dials got the start at MLB at was eaten alive. Long pass to Hines Ward as he trotted out about 20 yards like he was going to seal a deep safety on a run play then turned the jets on and sprinted toward the pylon for a long TD. Mario Williams came off a short porch and rocked the QB to a grade 1 separation AC sprain.

Problem is, it was all downhill from there

The problem with that Jets loss is that the team that beat the Steelers was not the same as the one who lost 8 games. There is that much of a difference between Mike Vick and Geno Smith talent-wise that it's hard to say that's the same team offensively.

Would be similar to drop in production from Ben to Gradkowski.

My point exactly. If the Steelers were 1-8 with Gradkowski and a team played them in Ben's first start and lost do you think fans of that team would be considering it losing to a 1-8 team or a team that finally has a real quarterback?

Jet's are better with Vick than with Geno. So in effect we weren't playing the same team that previously went 1-8.

It's not like he doesn't know how to coach vs. bottom feeders and it's unlikely he just forgot how to coach vs. legendarily bad teams suddenly.

That other stat is some bogus shit.

As another poster here observed, even if they're going by the record of the team when they played us, the stat is still easily proved wrong with cursory research.

This team has been bad to mediocre since the 2012 season. It's mediocre and improving this season. The arrow is pointing up, despite the agony of losing to the Bucs and Jets. Next two years will be much more fun to watch - barring injuries.

Honest to christ!! How can anybody try to spin this as though losing to shit teams hasn't been a worrisome issue for this coach.

Funny how people on here think losing to shit teams shouldn't happen. Most of you guys must not gamble on NFL Football very much because I assure you that good teams lose to shit teams all the time. Can't recall how man by times in the last 20 years I've seen a line were team x was favored by 7 pts or less to a shitty team y on the road and I thought to myself that's to good to be true, and sure enough team y wins the game outright, happens all the time.

Happens to the Steelers all the time, for sure.

I wonder how Tomlin compares to Cowher or other coaches in this regard. Cowher, the guy who lost to every expansion team he faced, the guy who got swept by the Bengals the year they went 3-13.

Never said anything close to that genius. In my opinion all KC ever does is bitches about shit non stop. Just wondering if he is really a fan of the Black n Gold or a professional message board troll. Try to find some insight he's ever contributed to this board. All he does is pick fights and arguments. IMO he is was of the main reasons this board has gone to shit.

Cowher lost 13 games to teams that finished 5-11 or worse compared to Tomlin's 11 such losses. Of course, Cowher coached 15 years; Tomlin's working on his 8th.

Wow, forget to take your meds today? Please show me where I deducted calling out coaches means you aren't pulling for the Steelers. Never said anything to do with calling out coaches. Nice of you to make that ASSumption though.

Due to take my crestor before I go to bed...if you must know. Seems this OP, like so many others, centers on criticizing or defending stEeler coaches. KC's been critical. In response, you suggest he'll be rooting for stElers to lose on monday. SEems quite clear to me.

Actually, the OP this thread had to do with the 1-8 stay against .200 and below teams being horseshit, which it is. Thread wasn't started to bitch about coaching. I could care less of people bitch about coaching when warranted, and it has been at times. All I did was made a comment about being a gambling man and seeing lots of good teams lose to shitty teams all the time, which they do, not just the Steelers.

Once again, never said Ben sucks, I believe he is a HOF QB. I'm sure I have said he is playing like shit it is sucking in a game day thread more than once though, cause there have been games that he has sucked ass, like the one he just played in. I'm pretty sure you too have said he sucks during a game thread as well. I'm also quite sure that if this board still exists 10 years from now you will still be referring to me as the guy that said Ben sucks. I think you are still sore you had to send me a $100 for a bet you lost on your boy Redman.

Yeah, I'm CRUSHED over losing a whole $100 to a complete fucking mook like yourself. I had better start pan handling to recoup my losses.

The same guy who said in the game thread the last time we played the Browns something like; "Just keep running the ball and we'll win easily."

Good call.....
