Heyward to fullback, D watt gone (ST replacement already there); fryermooth, washington, gentry as TE. Im okay with that…
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
I’d like to go on record and say at 93, sure I’m on board.
Four to the Colts when they needed a QB and IN REAL LIFE, took their QB? Idiotic.
Happy for STD that his draft darling, outlier of outliers is now gonna suit up in the black and gold.

At 93 I can live with this, but I have reservations. The knee is one thing on a tall player like that. But, also, his tape just doesn't reflect that combine performance. He should be able to run every route if he really had that athleticism in pads and yet he is VERY limited in the routes he can run.
I have no doubt he is a supreme run blocker and his frame is freakish. He'll help our rock pounding orgy. But, we'll have to see if he can really threaten defenses when they know his route tree is limited.

If he plays TE for the Steelers he will have about 5 routes to learn. After that he needs to win combat catches particularly in the red zone and mine the seams. I doubt those are some undoable hurdlefranco32 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:43 pmAt 93 I can live with this, but I have reservations. The knee is one thing on a tall player like that. After your performance in the draft chat and on this board, should Washington turn out to be a stud, you have forever forfeited your right to say annything positive about him. I hope he turns into your favorite player, which isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

It all started when STD took him 4 overall. I’m fine w the player, but never was at 4. Well dumbfuck, I made the Levis selection based on the Rodgers trade NOT happening. I was clear about that from the beginning.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:42 pmThat QB was gone and your dumb ass took Will My Girlfriend Was Drafted Before Me Levis

Oh, and let’s not forget word on the street was Levis was going #1 overall.
Be careful not to offend B2B, he liked Levis, I want you to continue in your role as Fury teacher’s pet.

If healthy, I 100% believe he’s a first rounder. I also believe you can justify taking the best player on the board whenever. If he turns out to be Gronk, would you feel bad about picking him at 4?Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:11 pmIt all started when STD took him 4 overall. I’m fine w the player, but never was at 4. Saying you think it was a reach is different than going batshit about it for a month. I felt personally attacked and I wasn’t even the target.

The flags on DW (other than health) are his limit football IQ as a receiver (UGA just didn't use him that way because they have TE Brock Bowers (an All-American top 5 pick in next years' draft) and whether or not he can handle the new money and have good influences around him. The fact that we picked his teammate and friend, B. Jones, in the 1st helped seal this pick. They know he's gonna need a support system around him and Jones (along with Pickens) should offer that. He will block his ass off and then some, though.franco32 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:43 pmAt 93 I can live with this, but I have reservations. The knee is one thing on a tall player like that. It won't surprise me in the least (I'm actually expecting it) if we prioritize getting UGA's senior center, Sedrick Van Pran (was gonna come out this year but decided to return at the last minute), in next years' draft (we will overdraft him even, just to make sure we get him). He's the leader and role model for that O and many of it's players that need his positive influence (like DW). MT loves him and what he represents off the field and in the locker room. It's about culture for MT.
I know this UGA team almost as well as I know our Steelers. Been a season ticket holder for the last 3 years (and have seen every single play -- hell, I was just there for their G-Day game two weeks ago) as my daughter goes there and we just found out she'll be there another 4 years.

Hey man Mel Kiper is a tool but he’s at least tuned in— he said last night he thought Levis was going to go top 5. His fall may have nothing to do with the stuff that we can evaluate from afar. Medical. Drug test. Red flags which haven’t yet come to light. Or we could just have different opinions.
It’s not like I made up the rumor about Levis going 1st.
Making fun of some player you liked or had highly rated who falls is part of the drill, but doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t know what you’re talking about. There are dudes who fall every year that end up being awesome and some who fall that are out of the league in no time. That’s the draft.
“We are the stupidest fucking franchise ever.” — Smithessmokin
Lots of three right end sets with Connor, Muth and Washington on the field with Pickens or Diontae as the sole WR?
If this is how we roll, then draft defense the rest of the way cuz we are gonna need it.

Well I liked Levis enough to make him the Jets QB in round 1.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:31 pmHey man Mel Kiper is a tool but he’s at least tuned in— he said last night he thought Levis was going to go top 5. Washington is the kind of TE that could put up 1200 + 15 + or 500 7 and still be a high impact player who wins a lot of close games for you
If your a DC do you load up big to stop the run ?
If you do and he slides off a chip block who’s gonna cover him ?
Watch this guy in the open field. The back end of your D better have good tackling technique
Like with any other player I have zero guarantees but I think this guy COULD be dominant
I will ALWAYS jump high for those players and fill in around them
Does it always work ?? Ask Howie Rosemann who was almost universally hated in Philly very soon after their 1st SB and then some of his high upsiders started hitting again. Now everyone loves him again
To the bold go the victory

Concerning Washington, wouldn't you rather have him blocking and catching the occasional pass over Gentry (who will make a great 3rd TE). I love this pick.

What happens if the Steelers put Washington in some bubble screen ideas ?? Or what about those jet sweeps ??
You win in the NFL by creating mismatches
Blocking or receiving Washington creates problems most teams right now don’t have great solutions for

Ideally, drafting Washington puts an end to the Conner Heyward dog and pony show, but we all know that isn’t going to happen.jewelsongs wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 2:07 pmConcerning Washington, wouldn't you rather have him blocking and catching the occasional pass over Gentry (who will make a great 3rd TE). for me he replaces Zach Gentry. 0 overlap between washington and heyward.Jobu wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 2:24 pmIdeally, drafting Washington puts an end to the Conner Heyward dog and pony show, but we all know that isn’t going to happen.jewelsongs wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 2:07 pmConcerning Washington, wouldn't you rather have him blocking and catching the occasional pass over Gentry (who will make a great 3rd TE). Heyward is an H back. Washington is a blocking TE
The Steelers are sending the message that they are going to run the ball, run the ball, and then run it some more. So where does a small, slow, poor blocking TE/H back fit in to the lineup?
I get it, he’s Cam’s little brother, it’s another feel good story, so we have to keep him. But this why the Steelers have turned into an average organization….drafting and holding on to mediocre talents like Conner Heyward. A TE room of Friermuth/ Washington/Gentry, could be as good as any in the league and fits the Steelers offense perfectly. How many special team “aces” does one team need?
And before anyone says it…Conner Heyward IS NOT a FB!

I like C-Hey. I think he's just a football player. I like his type for end of roster/ST talent; it's perfect. I also think they have slightly bigger plans for him this year and beyond.
