Of course Jibbs is going to say that. What is he going to do??
Shatter his 1st round pick QB’s confidence by publicly saying the guy is putting up historically bad numbers???
Yes they judge on wins. But ummm when you average a woeful 16 ppg it’s because your QB isn’t contributing to the ole scoring department.
Something rather important to keep winning games as you get to the postseason.
How bout this, how bout we judge KP on the playoff games he wins or doesn’t win?
Fair??
I bet he doesn’t have 3 playoff wins by the end of the 2025 season.
$1,000?

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Exactly, bullshit story from someone that doesn’t know they are getting played. You wouldn’t even float the idea if the QB got injured. Absolutely zero upside to leak that.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:28 pmLet me get this straight......
They were going to bench PIckett, who had the team at a 7-4 record (and firmly in the playoff picture) in favor of Mitch Trubisky, who I believe had 1 win (the overtime win vs Cincy in the first game) last season and got booed off the field at home vs the Jets the last time he was a starter?
Yeah, I'll buy it.

I don’t think any QB, the most important position on the team, will ever be developed to or near their ceiling, under Tomlin and his buddy-hire coaching staff. So, it’s not all of KP8’s fault.
I'm saying Pickett had this team, when he left yesterday's game (which was a 3-3 tie with the ball sitting at the Cardinals 1) had a 14-9 record as a starter and firmly in a playoff race.

And when he attacks the middle of the field good things were happening.
Bullshit story. It might be true, but it based on someone trying to get even for the Art II firing Canada story or it is a lie from the source.

It would be idiocy for anyone to take your bet.
2025?
One, Steelers may likely, not make the playoffs for the foreseeable future…they don’t score offensive points, nor does the HC value scoring points.
Two, I can’t see KP8 as the starting QB in 2025. I think he goes into next season as the starter but unless he shows medium improvement, I think they move on from him. Also, I’m not sure his body is built for the NFL, as he’s shown to be an injury risk.

Any team would need to get more from their QB1, than what they’ve been getting from KP, and if they didn’t, would likely consider benching him.
Tomlin has no where to hide, now that Canada is gone. Should he continue allowing KP to fail miserably, he risks receiving the brunt of any blowback, which is one reason, why he didn’t want to fire Canada and allowed him to hinder QB development for two seasons.
You do know that Tua Tagovailoa is finishing up his 4th year as a starter in Miami and has never started a playoff game, right?955876 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:54 pmOf course Jibbs is going to say that. What is he going to do??

The biggest play of that game yesterday, yep, even bigger than the stop on 4th down after Kenny went down, was Mitch trying to pick up that low snap from Cole and it ending up in a Cardinal player's hands.
That's when the game was basically over.
The Steelers have stayed in a lot of games this season because Pickett didn't turn the ball over.
Mitch did....immediately.
Also, you're right. Just one week earlier Kenny had a really good game and used the middle of the field. I think the Cardinals adjusted a bit but the Steelers were still moving the ball. I 100% still believe they win that game if PIckett doesn't leave injured.

Any other coach could take Pickett and this offense and get far in the playoffs, with the defense playing at its weight! As I said in another post this team could easily run the seventies Steelers’ offense which would work in today’s game. They are a Center and WR away from being able to effectively execute those game plans! Go watch Super Bowl 13 and it will highlight all they are missing. Kenny could do 75% of Bradshaw. Harris and Warren can do 100% of Harris and Blier. Pickens is 75% of Stallworth. DJ is 25% of Swann. TEs can do 75% of Cunningham and Grossman. Need a center. Don’t forget you will see TB12 throwing frozen ropes over receiver’s heads in these games too.Stillchest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 11:14 pmGerry Dulac has been solid.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:59 pmExactly, bullshit story from someone that doesn’t know they are getting played. And hey, KC is the one swinging g from KPs nuts all the time.
Sooo time to put his money where his mouth is.
But he won’t. He knows KP isn’t stacking playoff wins.
He will come back and say something lame like KP will be the starter next year.
Well duh. They took the jag in the 1st round. Of course he’s going to start.

I don't trust Dulac that much, but the team would have been incredibly negligent not to at least discuss a QB change at some point this year. I don't consider this ground breaking news. They fired their offensive coordinator. It's obvious shit isn't working on offense.
I don't know what we're debating here because they ultimately didn't bench Pickett no matter what was actually said behind closed doors.

Evidently none.
But you’ll keep washing this balls everytime a negative word is said bout him.
I mean, this team has young talented players at key positions and provided the QB can do you know, QB stuff, expecting 2 playoff wins over three seasons isn’t some huge stretch.
So basically you are saying you’ll continue to blow the guy but don’t expect him to win a couple playoff games.
Got it.
Plays are there to be made. PR Pickett isn’t making them.

I don’t question, the failure of this staff to develop KP8 and we have no idea what his ceiling is because of that failure. We may never know. This was my biggest concern with the Steelers drafting any QB, especially one in the higher rounds. I didn’t see an indication that Tomlin and his staff were capable of developing and assembling schematics around him and the offense, that would give them the best opportunity to succeed….and here we are, nearly two seasons later, after firing the OC, still with the QB situation unsettled and in limbo.
I appreciate your optimism but how do we know the capabilities of these offensive players, under a different, competent coaching staff? Is it possible that these players just are not very good? After all, they were selected by the current regime, as Tomlin is a main clog in that procedure.
Dulac has been spot on before and had broken accurate stories.
Also, why would Carolina want to trade for Tomlin?
They just invested highly in a QB. They are strongly rumored to want an offensive coach to go with him. They want to develop him. So you people think they are going to trade for a guy whose last three - soon to be four - offensive coordinators are out of the league completely now? Tomlin has never hired a successful offensive coordinator and Kenny Pickett has regressed on his watch if anything.

Missing Austin for an easy pitch & catch walk-in TD was 100% on Pickett.
Missing. wide ass open Muth over the middle because he’s terrified of the pass rush is on him too.
Purdy makes that throw to Kittle 10 out of 10 times. But we keep hearing it’s the cast not the QB.
Well, we had guys as wide open as SF does and yet Pickett couldn’t deliver.

We saw what happened to Purdy when his all world supporting actors were sidelined.
You can’t point out mistakes without providing the context. When you have your Right Offensive Guard blocking your Center….It causes radiation that hangs around for awhile! I am not saying Kenny is AllPro, I am just saying that with a competent coaching staff we would be progressing. I will even go further and say Kenny would succeed nearly as well as Purdy in SanFran!
Mi agree on point one that with better coaches we’d be progressing.I am just saying that with a competent coaching staff we would be progressing. I will even go further and say Kenny would succeed nearly as well as Purdy in SanFran!
Point 2 though??
Purdy has best in the league stats. KP has historically bad stats.
When we have wide ass open receivers and KP fails to deliver you can no longer say it’s Purdy’s cast.
Nobody is disputing his cast isn’t good. But he has to make the reads and deliver accurate throws.
That is the difference between the two right now.
I mean, our coaches schemed Austin open for an easy walk in TD. Did they scheme up that okay and just fail to tell KP to throw it there?
They schemed Muth wide open over the middle. Oline will miss assignments. It happens. But even with it happening KP still had time to fire to his wide open TE.
He curled up and took the sack.
Saying KP would be leading the league in virtually all QB categories with simply better coaching is being disingenuous Lake.

I would be if I were him. Nobody's talking about Tomlin's defense giving up a 99 yard fucking drive right after the starting QB goes down.
How they got fucking absolutely boat raced by Kyler Murray, James Conner and McBride.

Cam? Nah…all I hear from him is blah, blah and not a goddamn resolution happens with any issue.
The Standard was once upheld, once meant something but not anymore.
I would be if I were him. Nobody's talking about Tomlin's defense giving up a 99 yard fucking drive right after the starting QB goes down.

This team is in quicksand and most everyone is blaming the players for “failing to execute” even though it’s obvious, they were lacking preparedness and attention to detail, which lies on the shoulders of Tomlin and his buddy-hire, coaching staff.

Been a Kenny supporter longer than most and was hoping the play calling, getting him into a rhythm , stack some W’s and maybe he’d blossom.
Injury won’t help any of that but regardless, I’m starting to wonder if he’ll develop at all. These missed open passes that aren’t happening are getting uglier and uglier. I’ll still hold out hope, but will also not hold my breath.
Hell, can we bench all the football dumb players on this team? Can we bench Killebrew? Danny Smith? So many morons on this team its a travesty.

I mean, I think it's perfectly understandable.
The D has been carrying the team all year. #6 in DVOA and #6 in scoring despite playing with an offense that loves nothing more than going 3 and out and sending the D right back onto the field.
They gave up 24 points against Kyler Murray. League average per game is around 21. The Cardinals are now 2-2 on the season with Murray back. Obviously a completely different team with him playing compared to Clayton Tune or whoever the fuck. He threw some dots in the second half. The long TD that got called back on a holding call was a beauty.
People are more upset about the offense because we've spent 25 games watching Pickett struggle to score anywhere between 3 to 7 points a half.
*roots for losses*
Zero turnovers inspire of Pickett and not because of him.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 11:03 pmYou do need to add the turnover stats which are basically zero.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:44 pmI'm not saying Pickett has looked like Dan Marino in his prime.Stillchest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:33 pm
Dulac has been mostly reliable.
He also, reported that Art II initiated the exit of Canada, which I firmly believe.
KP8 hasn’t processed the field very well, although he is surround by a serious lack of talent in the coaching department.
I don’t think any QB, the most important position on the team, will ever be developed to or near their ceiling, under Tomlin and his buddy-hire coaching staff. So, it’s not all of KP8’s fault.
I'm saying Pickett had this team, when he left yesterday's game (which was a 3-3 tie with the ball sitting at the Cardinals 1) had a 14-9 record as a starter and firmly in a playoff race.
......and Mitch Trubisky is his back-up.
I don't really think I need to add anything to that.
And when he attacks the middle of the field good things were happening.
Bullshit story. It might be true, but it based on someone trying to get even for the Art II firing Canada story or it is a lie from the source.
Also, if your view is that Pickett has positively increased the record, why doesn’t that apply for Canada? Over that time period, Canada had a pretty good record! Why was he canned? Maybe pointing out record isn’t really a winning argument?

Just for reference: Mighty Mitch in year 2 with the fucking Chicago Bears, a franchise that has sucked for quite some time did this:K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:43 pmPickett's ability has plenty to do with it. He was 14-9 as a starter (with what, 6 or 7 game winning drives?) when he left that game yesterday. The Steelers firmly in the playoff race.955876 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:30 pmUmmm what does that have to do with his ability??
Of course he’s going to start. We burned a 1st rounder on him. They’ll let him start at least through next year so they can check the box that he had amble opportunity to develop.
Duh.
Next time you say some shit about DJ that he’s going to be starting next week and the week after. That I’m certain of.
Relevant to the conversation how?
So yeah....his ability has plenty to do with why Pickett will be the starter when he returns.
Nobody would disagree that Pickett needs to play better, but as your boy Jibbs clearly stated in one of his recent post game press conferences, guys like Tomlin and Pickett will ultimately be judged on wins....and Kenny isn't doing too shabby in that department.
I hope that helps.
14 games started & played - 11-3 record
289/434 - 66.6% 3223 yds 24 TD (5.5%) 12 Int 7.4 Y/A 95.4 Rating 71 QBR 421 Rushing yds with another 3 TD, led the Bears to the playoffs...Imagine how bad now that Kenny is going to be in year 6....time to move on from him period. KP will never sniff a stat line close to this.

Tribusky was sacked 93 times in 41 games played his first 3 years in Chicago, probably ruined him for life. I still contend that if Mahomes had gone to the Bears and Trib had gone to the Chiefs, both of their careers would be way different. At this point, Mitch is what he is, but he is also likely to put up more than 16 pts per game these next 3-4 weeks, along with some bone headed wtf moments as well.

Listen we are all really arguing over the same stuff. Some think it is mainly Kenny and some think it is mainly coaching, but most agree it is coaching to a significant degree.zeke5123 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 1:25 amZero turnovers inspire of Pickett and not because of him.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 11:03 pmYou do need to add the turnover stats which are basically zero.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:44 pm

I keep harping on this Super Bowl 13 rewatch because I can see TB12 in Kenny. Does that mean we are going to win 4 SBs? No. But I can watch SB13 and at least see a road map and vision for a team to follow to try to have success. If they tried to emulate that seventies team’s offense, I am certain it would work in today’s NFL. Are all the pieces there? No. However, there are quite a few offensive pieces. More importantly, it is a roadmap to start crossing off player x, y and z and upgrade player or position group 1, 2 and 3 as you move forward to a championship. We are in the wilderness on roads that have been wind swept with soil and sand and we have no idea which way to head.
Our current road map is absent process, procedure and development. It is based on Tomlin pulling on levers to goose emotion and muscle through games on hope and ungentlemanly strategies! A couple times a season to squeak out the big game is fine, but a whole season of attrition football on offense is not building on the athletic and artistic achievements of yesterday’s NFL players!
