There were a ton of Steeler injuries to contend with and, despite the next-man-up response, we just weren’t ready to a Bills caliber opponent. Also, falling behind by 21 after the INT took the Steeler run attack out of the equation.
Mason was unfrazzled in the pocket and, in the second half, went toe-to-toe with Josh Allen. The Steeler secondary and ILB crew got exposed. I love some Patrick P but he’ll be 34 playing the 2nd toughest position on the field. He’d need to be an alien to perform at the level he did in Arizona and I’m not confident he can make a transition to safety.
Draft the best available players and trade to fill the areas of greatest need (center, punter, ILB, CB, DT).
Aside from center, the OLine looks good. The receivers look good. Rudolph with KP as #2 is good. KP is good in clutch, is more mobile than Rudolph, and protects the ball.
On the defense, there’s a ton of talent and Omar will fill the gaps. Hopefully they’ll be healthier next year.
For those criticizing Minkah, he missed that tackle trying to make a play for turnover. Myles Jack pulled up when Josh showed slide on one play but Josh didn’t slide. On another play, Josh did slide and despite avoiding the hit, he still got the flag. Shit happens.
With a day to process it, I feel better about where this team is and where it’s going.
Thought you were trolling till you said there were tons of injuries. Lol. They lost two guys for the year . Alexander and Holcomb. I know they had guys like Mikah in and out and heyward and Johnson.
But that is a healthy team . Texans had 22 guys on ir. Dolphins had 16.
Other than that I agree with your post.

Tomlin also told Arians he was returning until the Rooneys said he wasn't.
Maybe....
Just maybe.......
Praying.....
The Rooneys and Tomlin came to an agreement that they would make it seem like he was coming back to keep his trade value to another club in high demand.....
and they are working behind the scenes to move Tomlin to where he wants to go.... and a fresh start.....
while the Steelers get the most bang for their nicklel

I know the reasons.
Now if Rooney thinks otherwise
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has informed the team he will return for an 18th season in Pittsburgh.
Still yet to finish below .500 in 17 years on the job, Tomlin’s status was nevertheless in doubt amidst rumors he could seek an exit from the only team he’s ever known as a head coach. He will instead continue to prioritize the stability he has known in Pittsburgh and look to improve a coaching staff that had grown stale on offense under ex-OC Matt Canada. Tomlin’s biggest problem remains his post-Ben Roethlisberger quarterback play. Tomlin continues to do his job on his side of the ball while being one of the league’s most revered leaders. His return is good news for Steelers fans.
who wrote this?
They saying the defense did its job....
Was there any ounce of rsearch.
They should be fired before Tomlin....
"His problem is his quarterback play", not "He has failed to find or adequately coach up a quarterback". "Coaching staff that had grown on stale on offense", not "He failed to hire an adequate OC, and when his OC failed he waited to long to fire him"
It's so infuriating

What's the point of getting amped for a new season come Aug. Nothing is going to change (we do what we do, standard is the standard BS). There's no hope going forward if Cool Breeze is back.
Tomlin's Steelers are now one of just 9 teams that have not won a playoff game since 2016.
Tomlin's Steelers have not won a playoff game in 7 years. Noll's Steelers never went more than 4 years. Cowher's Steelers never went longer than 3 years. Tomlin now is in firm possession of the longest Steelers playoff win drought in 50 years.
Tomlin's Steelers have given up 166 points in their last 4 playoff games, despite always having one of the highest paid defenses year after year.
Tomlin's Steelers finishing around or slightly better than .500 every year, and sometimes lucking into the playoffs just to get embarrassed, is not a good thing. It's not to be cheered. Finish middle, draft middle, stay middle. And middle doesn't win playoff games.
It was yet another year of losing to really bad teams (setting the NFL record of losing back-to-back games to 2-win-teams to boot), locker room conflicts, social media drama, sideline meltdowns, unsportsmanlike like penalties, quitting on plays...
It's okay to want more than this and still be a "real fan". You aren't "spoiled" to want more than what you have been given for the last DECADE. It's okay to say 3 playoff wins in 13 years is not good enough. It's okay to want organizational accountability and overhaul. It's okay to want CHANGE.
Mike Tomlin will never will another playoff game. And as long as he's the head coach, then the Steelers will never win another playoff game. It's insanity to believe otherwise given the overwhelming amount of evidence.

I got to enjoy my first WS win with a team that I follow (I'm here in DFW) this year.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 10:01 pmSuwanee GA's own Cam Heyward stated that speculation and questioning of Tomlin's status in Pittsburgh created a distraction.

What a PS ride!!!!!!! Magical.
I suffered thru the historic collapse of the 2011 WS game 6. Amazing how winning it this year for a franchise that had never won changed everything. Healed that wound
Was surprised that your team was not in it Drama. Better that we faced the Diamondbacks in the WS I'm sure.

So, if I'm reading this right Tomlin said he's coming back. The Steelers did not say he's coming back.
Who do you think started the rumor that Tomlin was considering walking away?

Rangers winning their first was really awesome and good for baseball.
Record setting Braves bats went cold after sitting out first round action.
Missing a leadership element with Freddie and Dansby bolting for big money deals.
Anthopolis rebuilt the bullpen
Going to be dominant

As for injuries, it seemed to me like the defense was on some patchwork sh!t this year— playing your corner at safety, Hayward missing several games with the groin injury, pulling inside LBs out out of retirement, calling players up from practice squad, suspensions, etc. But yeah, I didn’t know the Texans were beat up like that.

IF Jibbs gets an extension, how many of those other 8 teams drop off the list before we do?

The one thing I can be grateful for about Tomlin is that he's numbed me to the bitter disappointment I used feel after a playoff loss. People checked in on me last night to see how I was holding up after the game, and I realized I was fine. I expected nothing less (or more).
So if thats something to be grateful for, then there you go.
And the media loves Tomlin, especially media outside Pittsburgh. He will always get the benefit of the doubt. Here's the take:
"Mike Tomlin did a fantastic job getting this flawed team into the playoffs"
when it should be:
"Mike Tomlin has had 17 years and still continues to put a flawed team on the field"\

Tomlin staying should surprise no one, he knows Rooney will never get rid of him.
Anyone excited about next year? Hell the next 5 years after Tomlin gets his extension.
Until the fans stop going to the games it will never change, and we know there far to many homer dummies that won’t stop.
Oh well, they don’t care neither should anyone.

I was to able to catch some GMFB this morning on NFL Network. There was a voice of reason, signs of intelligence.
One of the guys talked about how he gets it regarding those in the Steelers fanbase who have grown weary of NHALS. Stated that NHALS is not the Steelers standard and it's not enough. Even posted data on our last several playoff games.
