Good post OSS

But if he realizes it....will he use antiquated

they best use new thinking (EMR would be a fool to use the old thinking)

The big rumor is that AB threw a water bottle at Ben in the locker room and Pouncey slammed him to the ground before he walked out

Again RUMOR.

We do business with a former player (late 80's) and that is what HE heard. So at this point it's 3rd hand info and who knows how much it was manipulated prior to it getting to him

I was told by a Steelers player yesterday it would have been "mutiny" if Antonio Brown had dressed for Sunday's game and a bad scene. So much so "we were mad enough at him someone would have forcibly taken his pads off him and stopped him from going out there."

yes heard that this morning, you should listen in now, some more staff disfunction stories are being leaked out on air

staff was AWOL and the inmates ran things........ Porter was fired from EMR. Butler and Jerry O were also not the best administrators in terms of being on time.

Poni and Mueller are starting in on Tomlin's ouster right now. They are agreeing that he's gone this year and at least next year no extension.

If true, this is the first indication that Art II is not pleased with Tomlin.

Those two were as thick as thieves.

That is the speculation from P & M

Porter was a Tomlin confidant and Porter brought zero

That's what I mean. Joey was Mikey's boy.

If Rooney ordered Porter to be fired, he is at the very least firing a shot across Tomlin's bow.

I should hope so. But a day late and a dollar short if he's just sending a message.

Despite of everything we know with Deuce about continuity, etc....it's still hard to fathom that Tomlin isn't being fired.

Again though it would be kind of a dick move to make Tomlin announce the firing of his bosom buddy...and then fire Tomlin.

Probably the most we should expect regarding Coach Aviators.

Baby steps.

You never know...sometimes a wake-up call is all that is needed to shake a coach up from complacency and arrogance.

Not that I'm holding out much hope because I believe Tomlin's core philosophy is what's wrong, and not necessarily complacency. I think he truly believes the decisions he makes with regard to in-game management, clock management, end of game management are all fundamentally sound.

I am glad they are no rush to extend Tomlin at this point this seat should be very very hot and firing Porter might be the first step in moving tomlin out. I wonder if Art is forcing tomlin to keep Butler at this point.

I have not found one comment on this board regarding the current state that is invalid or inappropriate, the above comments have resonated. Art 2 has insulted his family's legacy, dishonored the memory of its founder and its Pittsburgh base. Art would be appalled at the direction of his team that he entrusted to his heirs. Art loved Pittsburgh as much as he loved his team, Art 2 has betrayed both.

I've learned that in the US, class, dignity, and pride are displayed territorially; Manhattan class is different from LA class, both different from Miami class. Living in Pittsburgh in the 60's I learned about Pittsburgh class: quiet, proud, deep. When I met the 4 time SB champs in 1980 they were imbued with class, except Bradshaw, he was an attention seeking jerk covering for his inadequacies, Rocky & Moon apologized for him. Tomlin's Steelers are without class, they are not Pittsburgh.

The supposedly bright law school graduate has boxed himself into a corner, that's my take, and he doesn't know how to get out. Logic dictates that he fully understands the current status, and would fix it if he could. If so why can't he? The complexities run below the surface, out of public view and they are guarded, no leaks. Again my take, there are consequences for the moves that Art 2 has made and he has ensnared himself and the team. Excising the malignancy, healing and rebuilding from the ground up seems like the logical solution. As long as the problem remains the face and persona of the team, freshly hired support might help spokes but won't fix the wheel. A capsized ship cannot right itself, the current captain does not have the skills to right the ship. It will have to sink, replaced by a new vessel. My opinion

In no particular chronological or sociological order: the country and its culture has changed, as has the city, management, the sports world, the game, the league, the players, and more. Right wrong or otherwise firing some coaches, even the head one isn’t going to change the course, or perhaps even make a slow, wide turn.

Your observations are dead on, somewhere in the chaos of all of it the tiny slice that is the NFL the Pittsburgh Steelers are emblematic and a teaching moment. The velocity of life has increased, the changes come fast, many engineered, almost impossible to plan if the strategy is predicated on reacting to change. Yet, there are absolutes, eternal truths, challenge is to find them. The NE organization appears to function within their definition of absolutes, the result being stability & excellence. The Steeler image of stability is a false image, it's a deception. The lying media uses graphics about the longevity of the Steeler coaches, certainly true under Noll & Cowher. We're told Tomlin is an extension of that stability, as further proof of Tomlin's incompetence the truth is everything below him is unstable; the only spoke of stability is MM & his OL and it appears he's about to vacate.

There are two main intersections of dysfunction that has rendered this team into a disconnect from its city and legacy. Some 2nd gen owners carry the torch, some fail; the failures know not what it took to build it, run it, keep it together; their priorities are different. They outsource the hard work, you cannot outsource the magic formulas that elevated an entity into excellence, it's got to come from within a level 5 CEO/Boss/Leader. Dan may have been 2nd gen biologically, spiritually he was first gen 1A.

The other major fail is obviously Tomlin, for the million reasons cited in every corner of Steeler nation. The organization cannot flourish with two fail points. Insulating Art 2, bringing the right person to run/direct the football side and hiring the right HC & staff can bring it back. Likely to happen soon? Doubtful.

Just as they did not terribly long ago when Roethlisberger embarrassed them with his, um, active lifestyle, they’ll do everything they can to smooth this over. They’ve got 9½ weeks until the trading period, 9½ weeks to convince Brown that some things are more important than his ego.
