Good point.

Haley's wife probably told him to wait in the car while she blew a group of homeless guys.

Todd did what he was told and with the wife sucking off that group, he missed his plane.

Tomlin can't discipline Haley for that.

"At the two-minute warning, Roethlisberger said he pulled aside Tomlin and Haley for a private conversation. The Steelers had a first down at the Jacksonville 33. Instead of taking a knee three times and ending the game, Roethlisberger suggested calling a quick, safe, "easy" swing pass to Brown, who needed one more catch to extend his NFL record to 21 consecutive games with at least five catches and 50 receiving yards. Tomlin and Haley quickly gave their approval.

It was an amazing tribute to Brown, a two-time Steelers Most Valuable Player. It also was the right thing to do, not just because of Brown's value to the team, but also because of the extraordinary work he puts in to be the best at his craft. It always is right to reward a player like that as long as it doesn't put the team's win in danger. It does wonders for team morale.

Brown caught the pass and turned it into a 16-yard gain to finish with five catches for 84 yards. Roethlisberger then took a knee three times to end the game.

"I hate having those situations," Roethlisberger said. "I don't like to force something because I know bad things can happen. But that was an easy play for him to get a catch. I told him to look for the ball right away. If it hadn't been there, I would have held on to it and taken the sack. We weren't going to turn it over there.

"[Brown] deserves it. If anyone deserves it, he deserves it."

Apparently Ben isn't Haley's eunuch. You guys all treat Ben as if he were a gunslinging Zeus. Why don't you trust him now?

Stupid play but keeping 2 of your 3 stars happy maybe counts for something somewhere...

Curious. How many of you here would have gone apeshit had AB fumbled after the catch and the Steelers wind up losing the game?

I honestly think about just as many as went apeshit when it netted 16 yards and a first down.

I'm thinking the entire board would have been a typhoon of negative energy that would have deteriorated the whole board til everyone was banned.

1. I've defended Ben about as much as anyone on this site, but in this case, Ben was a dumb ass.

2. What does Haley's approval have to do with the price of tea in China? Is he now the head coach?

3. Tomlin is the biggest dumb ass in this decision because it was his decision to make. Why did the "player's coach", who I'll call PC for short, say yes this week? I'm sure Ben had as much confidence 3rd and 5 at home against Tampa to give AB his respect --- so why didn't the PC? Did the PC decide after a loss to suddenly trust Ben's judgment, and, if so, why did Ben need to get the PC's or Haley's approval anyway? Why, for that matter, doesn't the PC just tell Haley that, since Haley isn't a player, and since Haley has zero rings, to just stay out of Ben's way?

dave: Were you surprised that Tomlin was unaware that the opponents have scored on their first drive in each game?

Ed Bouchette: Very much so.

Ed Bouchette: He needs to have the guy who told him Antonio Brown needed another catch to give him those stats too.

Are you fkn kidding me??

When you have Ed Douchette, the ultimate Steeler sycophant, ripping the organization, things have descended to monumental proportions.

the Steelers first and last drives of each half on O and D have left a lot to be desired this year.

Not surprising.

I think it was last year when Tomlin revealed he didn't even keep track of who had a hat on gameday and who didn't.

Phil Jackson always stressed starting and finishing each half strong as a key to winning basketball games (actually tried to apply the logic to quarters, as well). I don't think that the inability to do the same, and the team hovering around .500, are coincidental things.

The Beastie Boys stress in their song Shadrach that it's not how you play the game, it's how you win it. They coach as much football as Phil Jackson.

Players and coaches of different sports often exchange ideas, philosophies and concepts. This is not new.

If Phil stressed that to Jordan or Kobe, I guarantee they would have treated him like an obvious dumbfuck.

Then again, Pippen quit on Jackson during the final possession against the Knicks in the 1994 playoffs so maybe he wasn't obvious enough.

I like Jackson...but you've got to have the horses to execute those coaching cliches.

Right, why have an opinion with any basis to it. Why not just say how you would handle a situation instead of tearing someone way more extreme qualified than you to validate your point?

Maybe you don't know what message boards are for. Most people just throw out unsupported claims

This board should only allow people with so much football knowledge to post. This way, all 3 of you can play hanky panky together. The rest of us die hards aren't worthy.

No, don't short change yourself . It's much better with you sticking 5 fingers in your ass and throwing whatever you dig out up against a wall and running with it

It's always better when we're incapable of being positive about anything

After rereading the board rules, it seems that it's perfectly fine to throw out unsubstantiated critical opinions. Maybe you should write a letter to the mods or go find another board more up to your standards.

I don't have a problem with you posting your views. It's a message board. Why don't you go find a meesage board that doesn't have the likes of me or Sixx on it. Something more befitting your dignity as a football god. Your kind shouldn't have to mix with the polloi this way.
