I don't know where you teach, but the higher up in academia one goes, the more out of touch they seem to be. Granted I'm not at an Ivy League school, but the batshit insanity most conservatives associate with academia is based on what they see from the top schools.

Most public universities and state universities are filled with kids who mostly keep their heads down and just want to plow ahead, get their degree, and start working. And the dipshitery of their teachers varies.
