AB doesn't run that X role at all... maybe 5 times per game, if that.

He's doing all this as a Y without a top of the league X... that's kind of amazing. He doesn't really take the top off of a D and he's not exactly a physical receiver who will win 50/50 balls nor take big hits over the middle. It's just mind boggling how good he is at everything else it means to be a WR.

Y is the TE. All the X is, is the guy to weak side of the formation. Draws boundary CB. He lines up there often

I don't understand all this x and y talk but I have no idea why it is a good defensive plan to turn AJ Green loose on our safeties. Our corners must stay with him and have safety help to jar the ball loose. What was Ike's purpose after he let Green go? He did not stay in his quarter. He followed Green down the field and looked lost. Dumb coverage or piss poor by Ike.

I'd call the boundary guy the X, the weakside Wideout the Y and the flanker/slot guy the Y... but I think in terms of 3WR 1 TE 1 RB set.

Steelman, Ike's responsible for getting as deep as the shortest route to his side of the field. If the receiver goes sideline, Ike carries responsibility all the way down the field. If he can, the CB playing with a 1/2 the field Safety help pushes the route into the center and plays trail technique.

Ike rerouted, he was playing proper technique, he didn't stay with the guy well enough... and the safety ruined whatever chance there was to defend the play by abandoning his post.

There wasn't any other route going into his quarter, so as B2B said, Ike should play trail.

No reason for him to stay in his quarter.

Ike needed to impede Green more than he did- gave him too free a release.

but i thought the DBs were a little stouter and more physical when Ike came out.

Looked to me like Ike visibly slowed thinking Mitchell was already in position. Something a Pro should Never do IMO. Obviously, when Ike realized Mitchell was still in route It Was Too Late cause green had already made the catch in stride and was running passed both. Blown coverage shared by both IMO.

I got this thought in my head that one player IR'd was allowed back for the playoffs. I'm pretty foggy on this.

He had the game he had because he's AJ Green. He do what you do. Wears a suit to work, and just bought a 10,000 gallon salt water fish tank. But he has wireless head phone problems. Once he solved that, he rolls like a boss
