Re: Any Tomlin defenders left?
Emotional, physically exhausting win vs. SD and then a short week to face the most potent offense in the league - yes I'm a Tomlin defender, and I don't need anybody's endorsement to confirm my opinion. There have been growing pains, and there will be more, but this team is playing good football. If health/injuries stabilize, we're a Super Bowl contender.

That's saying Vick sucks? Coaches say that all the time. Besides, is Vick that fragile that he can't take the truth? Didn't Tomlin ejaculat all over Vick after the previous two games?
I understand that you have to take coach speak at pressers with a Giant Grain of Salt, but seriously? This is the first time that I can remember (and no, I haven't seen Tomlin's every presser), where Tomlin didn't really give credit where credit was due - especially after winning the fucking game for them.
Frankly, I think Jones' surprised him.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

For whom was Jones' play not a surprise. Again, according to Batch, Jones' Friday practice was one of the worst Jones had ever had. And if I'm Tomlin, I don't go out of my way to praise to Jones at the presser bc I'm not tipping my hat at all to the next opponent. Just because Tomlin didn't perform felatio on Jones at the presser does not mean that Tomlin did not give him serious praise to his face. But again, Jones was AWFUL in Friday practice.
A lot of the criticism on Tomlin for not putting Jones in sooner might very well be purely results based. But damn, I don't see how the ability to throw a forward pass is not the better option.

LJ knows the Offense better and is playing behind our #1 Line.
He does give us the best chance w/o Ben ,and hope Tomlin really believes that.

Good gravy did Tomlin completely shit the bed today. But I'm sure he'll tip his cap to the Chiefs.

Dirty Laundry at a minimum peed the bed. I say everybody laid a deuce. Laundry is who he we thought he was.
Hopefully Ben lights it up when he returns.

Absolutely true. I don't even want to think about what Vick might have done to the bed.
Defense was a huge disappointment today. I can't believe Tuitt would have made that big of a difference. KC did whatever they wanted with their merry band of scrubs.

how do you figure that? one bad int, the ABitch did his Limas Swweed bumblefingers imitation and Bryant caught a nice TD. Jones didn't pass the ball for half the fuckin game. He's still a stranger in my book. I blame Wallace, he didn't inspire the defense to play better.
Mitchell allowed Kelce to roam free in the middle today so another dookie on the sheets.

Williams missed a catch that should have been a TD early and AB bobbled another pass into an INT.
Jones didn't really make many mistakes and did enough to get us a W, but the defense was the real story today.
They were TERRIBLE, especially on big 3rd down plays.

I actually thought Landry played pretty decent for a back-up. He made some nice throws. Two of those turnovers arguably weren't his fault. Impossible to win on the road -3 in turnovers with how the defense played.

...and we gave away (at least) 10 points on the Williams drop and not converting the 4th down pretty deep in KC territory.

I think Tuitt makes a HUGE difference. I think he's our defensive MVP so far.

A disgraceful loss

Upon hearing the cries of the Steelerfury faithful, Tomlin has finally unleashed the mighty Landry Jones and taken the chains off of the offense.
Landry Jones, in his one full game loss: 16/29 for 209 yards, for 55% completion rate, 1 TD, 2 INT.
Not arguing the decision to go with Laundry - i'd have done it even with Vick healthy - but just realize what you feared you had, is exactly what you thought you had - a 3rd string QB, who was probably right on the depth chart where he should have been.

And one of those picks was because of the all world, savior Antonio Brown not hanging on to the pill.

Did Tomlin et al really think they could just waltz into KC and steal a game with a 4th string QB?
Was Ben medically cleared to play?
Did the coaches make the decision to sit Ben even though he was good to go?
I want to know the answers to these questions.

If there was ANY CHANCE that Ben wasn't ready and that his playing today would have made his injury worse, then I wanted his ass sitting on the bench today. Prove to me that Ben was 100% with no risk of reinjury, THEN I'll get mad at the coaches for not playing him.

WE'RE LUCKY TO BE 2-2 WITHOUT GRAY and were damn near 3-1. I'm pretty happy right now. Looking forward to Ben coming back and hoping he does not suck when he does.

Landry played alright. I'm satisfied with him as the backup.
But, of course, he can't replace Ben. And on a day when they lose the TO and the 3rd down battles badly on the road...
Oh well. Ben's back next week.
Ben not playing isn't an issue - it was likely the right decision and I don t believe the staff simpy belueved losing was no big deal. I only question, and have always, how they choose to,play games both with and without Ben.
You could see this loss coming - KC isn't that bac, desperate, at home, Lamdry in and maybe looking past to the bungles. I think KC is better than their record and the wrong team for us to play.
I think Pitt will struggle with close games all year against quality opponents and similarly conservative opponents. Getting to the playoffs will be determined by some of the key guys on the team and whether the staff is willing to change at all in big games.

Everybody wants to focus on the offense. The defense cost us this game. Who scares you on the KC offense?? Kelsey?? Why so many long time consuming drives?? We needed the ball and the D could not (except 1 time) get it back. Why the pass? They were 23rd in YPG and 27 in pass defense going in for a reason. They are not very good.

You are being unfair. The Williams drop could have been 7, the AB swat and int not his fault. Check out the league QB stats he is right there with many pedestrian QB starters. He is way better than a number 3

Yeah but they were a top ten D in points allowed and we were getting turnovers (+6 on TO differential before today).
They came back to earth a little this game, but they played well enough through three quarters, and KC's offense is so pathetic, down 10-16 after the first TD I was thinking if we drive for a TD now the ballgame was over. Then all of a sudden our entire secondary forgets how to tackle and the floodgates opened.
