Obviously, Obviously was getting some sort of satisfaction out of the Steelers getting thumped. That seems obviously obvious.

What a sad panda.

Sad part is, this appear to be sometime before the 2013 season, so he's done it before.

The finger point was goddamn hilarious. That's Mike T. in a nutshell, no doubt.

Far more concerned with Tomlin's personnel decisions on defense and making gut decisions on point scoring opportunities than I am with the way he celebrates. Let's all agree, if we get a costly 15 yard penalty after taking a lead in a close game due to a celebration - we'll know where the players get it.

Yes, a coach leaves his fingerprints on the team he coaches.

Which is why, in retrospect, we shouldn't be surprised that Ben botched the situational game management and threw that interception.

This was the same Ben who killed his team's chances against Oakland in 2013 by calling a terrible timeout, not understanding saving timeouts took precedence over getting out of a bad play in that particular situation. When asked, he said he had never had a discussion with Mike Tomlin about these types of situations, but now he understands.

If Mike Tomlin is wretched at situational game management, is it any surprise his players are also?

I'm not a Tomlin fan at all, but this is a reach. High School players know that protecting the football is the #1 priority in a situation like this and we should expect our All Pro QB to have a fuckin brain.

We'll never know the conversation(s) between Ben/Tomlin prior to the INT, but if Tomlin says: "take care of the football" will you absolve him of this silly presumption?

Oh, Ben is fully to blame...don't get me wrong.

But, in general, poor situational game management does seem to be a problem that the whole team suffers from.

It is a pattern....and part of it may be philosophy.

I mean, yesterday- "Make a Play" Ben clearly overruled "Manage the Situation" Ben. That's the only reason he would make such a mistake- thinking that making a play was more important than managing the situation. Same as that Oakland example I gave.

Perhaps a little more general coaching is in order to explain to Ben that in some situations, making a play is NOT the overriding concern.

But you're right- he should have known this anyway.

Don't always assume these things are true - I've seen major league baseball players make simple baserunning errors, often times the same player over the course of a season... errors that are fundamental, things you learn in high school for sure... in fact those errors would get you benched with certain kinds of coaches.

I'm not so sure those fundamental things are even touched on at a pro level, it may just be assumed you know. I'm sure the pro game is complex to the point, they just don't have time to go over basic details like clock management while working on plays/reads of a two minute drill. Maybe they do, I dunno - but it sure as shit doesn't show on the field.

Now things like celebrating, mugging for the camera - that's the two way street. Players may love playing for a guy like that, but when that flag costs us 15 yards and gives an opposing team excellent field position to win or tie a game, there should be no question the way the players act is a direct reflection of the coach. You get the good with the bad.

Or give up all those rushing yards?

Or make all those hideous play calls?

Or have them prepared against Ryan Mallett?

Oh wait...

When everyone and everything sucks, its on the coach. Fair or not, he runs the ship.

Two things I put on the coaches.

The dumb play call on fourth and a foot.

The willingness to let the Ravens dictate what their offense will do.

Again...man up in the second half...this game is ours. Ravens are not doing anything impressive.

Not putting it all on him. Where did I say that?

But by the same token, Tomlin is not blameless in this.

It's the internet. Didn't you know you have to choose one extreme or the other?

We all know that it can't possibly be a situation of a quarterback playing like shit in a shit gameplan. That just isn't possible.

Nope, it's Tomlin or the players. Can't be both.
