Curious move by Belichik
For some reason Bill thought it would be a good idea to bench his best corner Butler and replace him with a safety, I was baffled by this. One would think after Philly shredded his defense the first half he would at least at that point consider inserting Butler in the game, but never did. After the game Butler was pissed and said fuck it, they gave up on me, felt had he played they would have won the game. If Tomlin had done this, he would have been roasted. Wonder what folks up in Boston think about this strategy.

None of the explanations make any sense. This was a disciplinary move no matter what they say.
My conspiracy theory is that Butler was a source used for the ESPN story on the Pats and the Pats found out.

If he has a discipline issue with Belicheat, then Club Tomlin is probably a great fit.

Belichick's going to be skewered on local talk radio today. The local scribes & talking heads hate him as is, as he never gives them a thing. I think he simply was pissed that Butler had the flu, delayed his trip to Minnesota. I'm guessing Butler may not have gone through team physicians, received Belichick's blessing to show up late to Minnesota.

A very curious move was that attempt at a reverse on the kickoff return. You'd have thought Tomlin hacked into the headset for that play call.

Yea that was dumb as well. Not to mention the time out on defense they wasted with about 9 minutes left.

It's hilarious to see the immortal and clearly the best HC by a large margin Belichick suffer a huge loss because:
A. he deferred to the other team's offense, only to see them drive right down the field and score
B. he had a discipline problem on his team that he dealt with poorly
C. his defense couldn't stop the other team
D. his use of timeouts cost oodles of time
E. his famous halftime adjustments (other than throwing Gronkowski the ball more) failed to stop the other team more than once
F. his choice of trick plays on offense and STs cost points and the chance to tie the game at the end
G. his team was, dare I say, unprepared and outcoached?
Or maybe he just lost, the state of the NFL is that defense is more or less dead, he probably had less talent across the board, and his players didn't play well.

There DC is the most overhyped coordinator I've ever heard of - look at how they reacted to the jumbo formations that PHI ran. They never once tried to adjust the formation to get leverage on the strong side C gap. Every time the Eagles went big the Patriots just let their OLB (often JH) just sit inside the extra tackle and get chipped by the TE to give up the edge. The patriots response to handling the jumbo set was straight up HS level coaching.

BB is still the goat HC tho...but Pederseon was masterful this 1 game...and do you really view Nick Foles as "just" a backup..i dont ..not saying hes a superstar but he was and is starter quality in the NFL until Chip Kelly fucked him over...part of my reasoning for picking the eagles to win this game

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

ya the larger point i was trying to emphasize was that hes not just a backup..hes better than at least 10 starters in the league right now..that throw he made to clement for the TD was surgical

I think I voted Foles a top 5 backup in the NFL earlier this year-- I like him a lot but he's been very up and down in his career.
As for Chip Kelly, he took Foles from nowhere and coached him to one of the great QB seasons of all time in 2014.

Former Patriots corner Brandon Browner defended Malcolm Butler and blasted Bill Belichick in a series of IG posts tonight. Said Bill "lost the game for us."

bbrowner39WTF going on here is this not the man who won SN49 for U? I hate shit like this. This is why I rock with players and not the team.

bbrowner39 - your spirit was all over that game tonight. Definitely seen it, they had safeties covering WR to prove a point. God bless u my friend, keep fighting, I saw you tear up pre game, first sign. You done a lot for that team and that community it’s ok to move on.. @mac_bz

bbrowner39A locker room was divided pre game, most yds ever given in up in a SB game, and your best defender over the past 3 seasons. Doesn’t get a snap. You where hurt/burnt where he was needed tonight.. #foolishpride

BB coached an absolutely terrible game - the timeout before the 2 minute warning was mind blowing bad
If tomlin had coached this game I can't imagine how many times you would have posted by now
