I though someone knew something about his career in adult film... Don't lead me on like that, it's disturbing.
Guy is a complete dipshit.
Bottom line is, the other guy might be worth keeping even if he was horsing around with the fire hose. I mean Ray Rice you keep after he punches his girlfriend, Rainey you cut. NFL teams don't REALLY care about that stuff, it still just comes down to who can play. If Adrian Peterson was playing with the fire house you'd never hear about it. Rainey is a fringe guy, fringe guys have to behave better stars, get multiple passes.

Yep, pretty much.
Nick, you bring up HS football from back in the day quite a bit. When I played HS ball back in the mid to late 80s, they used to make us give a paper to each of our teachers on Friday, where they would put down our current grade in that particular class. Same idea..our star RB was failing 2 classes but you can be damn sure that the teachers from those classes marked down at least a "C" on his slip so he could play. If some lesser player was failing these classes, he wouldn't have been allowed to dress that week, or at least until his grades improved.
Been this way forever and I doubt it'll ever change. Just the way it is.

We didn't do that, but some guys grades where good enough, until the season was over, then not so much. One guy I played with was a great success story though, was a great football player, but couldn't go to college because his grades sucked, he dropped out of high school after Christmas his junior year, everyone thought he was history, then later about two years after, got a GED, went to a JC, then went to Michigan State and started as a senior at about age 24, and got as far as Dallas Cowboys training camp and ended up a successful insurance guy, but yeah, some guys with piss poor grades and loads of football talent just arbitrarilly stayed "eligible", scrubs in similar situations where given their real grades and suspended from the team.
If they cut Rainey for playing with a fire extinguisher, they never were going to keep him, no matter what Pavano was saying in public.
Unless there's more to it than that.
Unless there's more to it than that.

This reminds of a statement made by Jimmy Johnson years ago while coaching the Cowboys.
It went something like this:
If you are a mediocre football player and you do not hustle, you will not make this team.
If you are an excellent football player and you do not hustle, well, you will probably hang around for a while.

This guy continues to disappoint. Costing himself what could be a very lucrative career. Stupid is as stupid does.

Or as better said by Tomlin; "I'll tolerate you until I can replace you." Unfortunatley, he didn't follow his own advice with Tony, and it cost him a ring.
Tony? Are you talking about Antwan Randle El?

I think he is referring to Santonio Holmes.
Ahh. Thanks for the clarification.

I think that's was one case where one could say that Tomlin actually was a potted plant.

Not hard to replace 3 catches for 59 yards per game over a career.

So you're saying that the Tone, that was super-clutch for the Jets in 2010 (and almost beat us), wouldn't have been worth one more touchdown and a 7th Lombardi vs the Pack?
