He definitely seemed to have lost a step or two by the time his career was over. Whether that was because he was too bulked up to play in a scheme which was not ideal for him, or whether it was because years of throwing caution to the wind had caught up to him, I cannot exactly remember. Although difficult to have to say goodbye at the time it does seem like the right decision was made.
I have always remembered an enjoyed this quote from him:
