I like the signing but hope it doesn’t cost them Finney

For those keeping score:

Ravens:
Calais Campbell, Michael Brockers, a 2 and a 5 for Hurst

Browns:
Austin Hooper and Jack Conklin

Bengals:
D.J. Reader and Trae Waynes

Steelers:
Derek Watt and their long snapper

Business as usual in the Steel City
I think you missed an important name -- Ben Roethlisberger. Not a technical add, but even average QB play from Big Ben would be a massive improvement over what the Steelers trotted out last year. If Ben can get close to a PB form and the defense was close to last year, strong SB contenders.

Do you think this Fullback knows where the first down is on Special Teams? How is his first down signaling?
With plenty of distance from that game, the memory of Nix signaling for a first down like three yards short of the sticks is pretty damn funny.

People like to give nix shit for that. Ray Rice made a first down clearly 3 yards short on 3rd and something like 20, and celebrated as well. He was playing the refs. It didn't work, so now nix looks like a fool.

This is a signing i can get behind. He, the Switzinator, and Gentry may well form the core vacated by the almighty Chickillo, the outlaw, and Matakevich.

I said it a few years ago.........
Would not be surprised to see JJ Watt end his career in Pittsburgh palying with and along side TJ.

Did those odds just go up with Derek signing.
Are they even higher with the whacky BOB at the helm in the Lone Star state?

JJ has a base salary of $15.5 for 2020 and $17.5 for 2021.
I believe that he all his guaranteed money is off the books and that he has no dead cap hits.........
Hence, the Texans save all of his 2020 and 2021 base salary money if he is cut. ( $33 million total )

JJ will be 31 in a few days.

He played in only 3 games in 2016 ( 1.5 sacks )
Played only 5 games in 2017 ( 0 sacks )
Played all 16 games in 2018 ( 16 sacks )
But then only 8 games last year. ( 4 sacks )

Played in only 32 of 64 games the last 4 years.

I can not see the Texans cutting him with what he represents to that state and what he did raising $40+ million for Hurricane Harvey.

But you could never sometimes ever tell.

The Steelers love the family connections.

I can see a Kevin Greene type rejuvination for the later part of JJ's career.

Dupree, Cam, Tuit, JJ and TJ...............

Strong SB contenders   Seriously??. Love the enthusiasm BUT just a modicum of reality.

They had championship level defense last year. If that continues this year, with at least a competent QB, they are in the mix.

Yeah -- clearly had championship level defense. QBs have a huge impact on team. Going from worst QB play to average is probably 2 wins. Going from worst QB play to PB is probably 4 wins. Are you telling me a 12-4 team isn't a strong SB contender?

Following the news that his brother, Derek, would be joining his other brother, T.J., on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Houston Texans defensive end was concerned.

“Well this is very unfortunate in regards to the race for the ‘favorite uncle’ for Derek’s son Logan,” Watt tweeted Tuesday. “Also seems to put me at a severe disadvantage in the ‘Mom & Dad’s favorite team’ category.”

They are an aging team. Assuming you will get the same performance from everyone this year is unrealistic. In my opinion the 2 CB's had career years. I hope I am wrong but I think they come back to the pack a bit this year. Heyward is slowing down and a year older. Hargreaves gone. No depth at the 2 middle backer positions. No first round pick (no issue with the trade). The O line is aging very fast and will have question marks next year. The skill positions on O are very middling. Ravens will be even better. I think they are fighting hard for a wild card spot and if they get in probably a 1 and done team that is on the old side. Hope I am wrong
