Hargrave = 3rd or 4th rounder
Davis = 6th rounder
Finney =6th rounder

Red and Watt cancel out.

Doomed from the moment Colbert snagged Minkah.
That said, the Skins might be finally getting a return from when we stole Ryan Clark from under their noses.

Crazy. $5M is becoming a fairly typical C2 for very average players.

Again, it depends on a team's needs...but you'd want to upgrade someone like that, anyway, so let him walk. That's what really kills teams when you re-up a guy like Sean Davis, much less sign him as a FA.

I don’t think he’s worth the money.

However, I’m not sure Edmunds is better then hot garbage at this point so we might have ultimately kept the wrong safety.

Let’s hope not.

this should help the steelers getting another pick but the issue with Emmonds is if he was not a first round pick he would not be v iewed a s bust.

Edmunds made a significant jump to my eyes in his second year. He may have been a little raw when we drafted him but now he has the secondary guru Teryl Austin coaching him and it did make a difference even in their first year working together.

To compare him to Davis is sort of stupid in my opinion. Yeah, I saw Edmunds get beat by DK Metcalfe for a TD in the Seattle game, but he did have good coverage and it was a great throw and catch, that happens sometimes. Metcalfe made a lot of people look stupid last season.

In his play against the run, he had 105 tackles. With Davis especially his first couple years, the missed tackles and broken tackles that he would allow were glaring and a big issue. Edmunds is an elite athlete and it does show up when he plays the run, when he can quickly shut down and limit a play with that range, it is unusual for your SS to have that type of speed and length.

Also, can we put the whole he wasn't a first round pick to bed please??

In my view, every year, there are really only maybe 15-20 players that are clear first round picks. Once you get by that top 20 players then the rest of the players from 20-60 all have similar grades/talent, it is at that point in the eye of the beholder, how a player fits a team, etc.

The year Edmunds was drafted he was okay, not in that top 15-20, but he was in that 20-60 group. So, picking 28th what is a team supposed to do?? The reality is that there are 40 players that have very close grades to one another and teams will value things differently.

That is how 3 years after a draft people will look back and shake their heads. How was Kareem Hunt a 3rd round pick? How was George Kittle a 5th round pick??

I think Edmunds will turn out to be a Chris Hope type of player for us. He will get better and better, form a nice tandem with Fitz the next two seasons. Hope ended up leaving in free agency, going to Tennessee where he played well for them and made a Pro Bowl. By the time Edmunds 5th year option comes up the team will have bigger fish to fry, namely extending Fitz and TJ Watt to huge contracts so Edmunds will most likely be gone. But for the next two seasons we have a great duo at safety.

I agree that we need to draft another safety. What we have behind those two is very, very weak. We need a good prospect to groom behind our starters and to play a big nickel more. I personally want to see us get another Safety capable of playing the back end, playing FS, and allowing us to be more creative with Fitz. Some don't want to mess with Minkah, keep him on the back end, but that plays into an offense's hand, doesn't it?? You get too predictable that way. I want the team to explore just what Fitz can do. Wouldn't you rather have Fitz lined up in the slot at times instead of Hilton?? Fitz lined up on a WR or TE rather than Hilton?? I sure do.

I think they already have that player on the roster. I believe Cam Sutton can play FS as well as Slot right now. As far as drafting another safety goes? I believe it will depend on how the draft unfolds. If there's a run on WR [for example] because WR is the deepest this draft I've ever seen, then a really decent safety could fall to them. If not? I hope they don't reach for some 'Raw' player to develop.

The biggest issue Edmunds has (other than needing to learn much more) is his change of direction (COD). It's terrible. When he's hard charging, he's straight line and very easy to elude; total whiff. He needs to be much smarter than that; hopefully it's something that comes with experience.

I wonder if Antoine Bethea would be a nice 3rd S (FS)? He's very smart, still has some range and would allow Minka to be Troy-lite in big nickel. He would probably like a shot at contending. I didn't watch him in NYG much last year, but before that he was still pretty reliable. His price tag will probably be around $2 - 3M.

I know it goes against the norm of getting younger, but I wonder if he wouldn't be a nice 1 year gap player? Would he play STs, though? hmmm...

Remember when you started some dumb post with your day trading tips?

You know, the one nobody responded to yet you talked to yourself multiple times??

That was pretty embarrassing for you.

And no, I dont have any desire to argue the worth of a couple marginal players.

Just pointing out we might still have a stiff filling the SS position.

Now run along and play jr.

Shouldn’t you be digging back into your “Day Trading for Dummies” manual or something so you can give strangers on a MB trading tips for free??

Ya, that’s the “only” reason you stopped. Couldn’t be because the 30 post thread was entirely made up of you posting and then responding to yourself could it?

And up 900% for the year? That’s pretty impressive. That kind of skill could make you big bucks if you did it professionally. Shit, I bet there isn’t a hedge fund in the world up 900% for the year. You are a special breed. A rare talent.

Instead of giving those golden nuggets away for free you should open your own shop. Then you could be up 900% on not only your own money but also all the money you’d be managing for others. Given the fees hedge funds charge you’d be a billionaire in short order.

Suppose your work here is time better served.

We are blessed to have you.

Edmunds can get better in certain areas.

He'll never, ever have football player instincts, because he isn't a football player.

Very good athlete, I'm sure. He will never be the answer and in a year or two, they'll cut his ass loose.

Davis is a really good guy with lots of leadership qualities. He just can't be more than a depth guy at FS, or a sloppy SS. Maybe he can come in and play man coverage on big slots for a certain defensive scheme I doubt it.

I wish him well, but I'm guessing he's out of the NFL in a year or two, max.
