JJ Watt not seeking contract extension...

Post by Scunge » Wed May 27, 2020 6:30 pm

...because he wants to play out his current deal with the Texans and then come to the 'Burgh to play with his brothers!!! :D

Where there is smoke there is fire??

Hey, don't crush my dreams, it could happen!

Such an upgrade over the Edwards brothers!

It's interesting, though, that he'd take that stance with the cap next year so uncertain. Not that he needs the money, and I suppose he could always seek a 1-yr deal but the FA market might be tough next year.

The flip-side of that argument is a franchise tag next year could be prohibitive under a much lower cap.

My folks live an hour outside of Houston. He is a Dallas Cowboys fan, she is a Houston Texans fan. They do both agree that JJ has been a great player and great for the community but they both wonder how long O'Brien and the Texans will tolerate his injuries and the high price tag.

In the last 4 seasons, out of 64 games, he has played in only half of them, 32 games. That is an average of 8 games per season over the last 4 years.

8 games per season and his cap hit has been around $15 million per season during that time.

I can see them just letting him leave for free agency or even cutting him in 2021 where they would save $17.5 million.

Then he can come to Pittsburgh, and be a rotational backup and fulfill a childhood dream of playing on the same team with his brothers. I think he would take a significant discount to make that happen, he has made his money and now his younger brothers are just starting to make their money.

Yes, a nice storybook ending for him and for us as Steeler fans, I am hoping it happens.

In other words, he’d fit right in replacing Tuitt.

I kid. Tuitt’s injury history isn’t as bad. Feels like it though.

Would that be a first? 3 brothers on the same team at the same time? What kind of story line would that be with 3 brothers on the same team, Winning the Super Bowl on the same team? 🙏 ;)

What is the most boring, weak ass NFL "story" designed to draw in a female audience?

1. Who has the kraaaaaziest beard on the team? Cuz omgaul facial hair.

2. Who is related to who? Are they bubbies? Do the bubbies want to play together or are they cool playing on other teams? And what do mommy and daddy have to say about all of that?!

I guess I should have been more specific. I meant in the NFL. Thanks Kodiak.

I’m from the “greater Johnstown area”. Thanks for the “shot” from one of the greatest movies ever. Practically every line, every scene a gem.
I just quoted last night “Hey, gimme a dime, I wanna call Ma”.
