Rosen has an NFL arm. Duck doesn't.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 6:10 pmJosh Rosen is positively worse than Duck, you want no part of him as your QB.
I don't know if Rosen has a future in the NFL, but at least he has the tools.
Duck is missing the most important tool, an NFL arm.
Duck makes Steve Walsh and Chad Pennington look like Elway clones.
Rudolph doesn't have a strong arm, but it's enough to be successful at the NFL level.
Duck's arm is weaker than Rudolphs's. Considerably weaker.
.....and I'll add, NFL teams likely had little or no tape on Duck when they faced him the first time last season.
You'll remember the Ravens game in Pittsburgh where Duck replaced Mason after the Earl Thomas hit and played really well.
If JuJu doesn't fumble we probably win that game.
Well.....remember the second time Duck faced the Ravens? Enough said.

I’ll take the 12 gauge down to the canal and shoot a duck each time Hodges has to start a game for us.
Please no more. Please. I don’t think I could watch it again.
I won’t really kill the ducks. But I might stick a fork in my eye if I have to see him spend any real time behind center.

I would let Rosen replace Paxton Lynch.

Rosen has to be better than Duck. Any other team qb camp cuts should also be considered in hopes of getting duck off the roster.
I wouldn't touch rosen with a ten foot duck.

Time to soft serve his way onto the practice squad. I'm pretty surprised by Big Dan. Had heard mostly positive reviews. Thought Smallwood and Whyte would do better, as well.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
I’d take him back over Ducky.

Ray Ray is our savior. He just bounced Switzer from the roster. Put up a statue ASAP.

Don't want to jinx it but hopefully this does mean the end of Switzer.
Ray Ray McCloud is on his 3rd team in 3 years, he has some ability as a slot WR and punt returner but he fumbles a lot. But he has one very important trait, like Diontae, he can make the first man miss, and even the second man miss. But for those that think they purposely cut Switzer knowing that they can easily sign him and put him on the practice squad? If they really loved him wouldn't they do that with Ray Ray instead? I mean he was the player who was not signed in free agency, he was the guy waiting by the phone until the Steelers called him just a couple weeks ago. They could have easily cut him, kept Switz on the 53 man roster and then signed Ray Ray to the PS.
Unless this is some master plan to cut Switzer and save money? Wasn't he scheduled to make something like $735,000? And don't practice squad vets make only a maximum of $12,000 per game? If they sign him back to the PS he would only make $192,000.
Anyway, just hilarious how some people were so enamored over Switzer. Over on Steeler Depot they had an article saying, "Yes, Ryan Switzer is making the 53 man roster!" a couple of days ago.
Maybe the final straw was him getting hurt again, maybe it was more serious than originally thought.
The Carlos Davis move is intriguing to me. Kieth Butler was quoted as saying that he had a young defensive lineman that he was really excited about but he was going to keep quiet on him so as to not let the rest of the NFL know about him. With teams having training camp more shut down, the press having less exposure and contact, teams this year could really do a great job of hide and seek with their prospects.
No preseason games means other teams can't see that young talented defensive lineman play well.

Pabst posted earlier that three teams starting NT's opted out for the season. Slim pickings are a possibility.
Anyway, the Steeler go with that 2 DL' defense a great deal.
I was looking forward to seeing what Carlos Davis could do in preseason.
Someone reported on here early in the week that it was noted by a camp reporter that Switz was getting reps with the first team. If that was true then they really gave him a shot at sticking. Mind numbing.

Switz to me perfectly exemplifies that saying, looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.
This summer he continued to post pictures of himself, of his body, his abs. None of that matters if you play like Jane. It is so annoying to have some player like that who brags a lot, boasts this and that and then plays like a wimp. Steelers have to get rid of him, sets a bad example and you don't want a player like that, with that mindset, all talk and no show, to proliferate on the team.
Just say no to Ryan Switzer.

Gorilla Warfare
Unless this is some master plan
Hopefully the master plan is to never have to mention Switz ever again.
And I thought Cain would have stuck as the last WR. Thought he played well in his limited action last year.
Hopefully this Ray Ray is better.

So I guess we will need to come up with another SteelerFury whipping boy. I wonder who it will be?
“Ah, who cares about Seattle’s Space Needle? Dumb looking building, you can see the whole stupid town, built by some jagoff! Pittsburgh got Mt. Warshington, gorgeous hillside, beautiful views of the whole city, built by God…we win!” - Pittsburgh Dad
I think that the Steelers knew that Deon Cain would not attract much interest and that he could easily make the PS.
From reports that I have read, Cain did not do as well during training camp, was dropping some balls and he really is a neophyte in terms of playing special teams.
With the 5 WRs that they currently have, Claypool is a fantastic special teams player and Ray Ray has show to be a decent punt returner with toughness to make tackles on the coverage units. With your 4th and 5th WRs able to play special teams to a better degree than Cain, Cain was probably going to be deactivated each week if he had made the team as the 6th WR.
Also, I suspected that they might go with just 5 WRs this year. With Ebron and McDonald you will see a lot more 2 TEs. With Canada on board, and who developed Jaylin Samuels at NC State, an H-Back, Move TE, will be a bigger part of the offense. Derek Watt can be a weapon as a pass catching FB too. Having 6 WRs on the 53 man roster is sort of a luxury when you are going to more of a distributed attack.

You're likely better than Duck Hodges.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:49 pmTrevor Siemien was cut. Isn’t he better than Devlin Hodges?
Don't get me wrong. Good kid. Got BRASS balls and if he had an NFL arm, he's easily be our #2 QB.
He's a better "football player" than Rudolph.
Unfortunately, Duck cannot throw the football at an NFL level.
Simple as that.
