2021 SteelerFury Board Draft Discussion/Rules (Starts 3/24)
RULES:
Trading picks and SIGNED PLAYERS UNDER CONTRACT is allowed, but no future year picks, please. Please run the trades by me or SteelPerch if there's any doubt about their legality or fairness. I reserve the right to veto if there's a problem.
That said, I can also help facilitate a trade via texts or twitter for anyone who's hard to reach. At this point I have texts for 28 of you, I think, email only for one, and twitter only for 2. Easy enough to contact each other, even for you non-social media Luddites.
The clock will be a little different this year: 2 hours for rounds 1-3, 1 hour for 4-7. We've been 90% picking in 30 min or less the last few years, and it's only been a few outlier picks that held things up. If you miss your turn, you'll be skipped just like the real draft; you may pick any available player as soon as you are able to pick. The clock will run from 8AM-10pm Eastern, although special consideration given for west coasters in the AM. Picks can be made at any time.
You can also send me a list of picks before your turn and I will use it to select for you. In fact, you can even send me lists with complicated instructions like : "if both these SS are gone, then pick this guy, unless the Browns pick a LB, in which case select the EDGE rusher first." You may laugh, but I have gotten more or less this instruction before.
Also note: I try not to see your listed players before I have to go to the list. I won't open you DM or scroll down your text if I get the gist you'll be listing players. I don't like to know before I pick, so I won't intentionally or unintentionally select your player and face your wrath.
I'm going to try and list the picks in a thread on twitter, so if you have a twitter handle, then please pass it on to me so I can tag you in the thread.
Any new trades will be added if it seems appropriate. Trades that happen IRL after we start the draft will only be included if:
A. the picks haven't already been traded in this board draft AND
B. both parties involved agree
Draft Picks order: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18955
AVAILABLE PLAYERS LIST (not comprehensive, just to help keep track): viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18962

Thanks again as always for putting this on, B2B. It's the most wonderful Steelerfury time of the year...

We've traditionally used either the CBS Sports prospect rankings (even that one year where they were ridiculous) or draftscout. Draftscout isn't exactly easy to access and the CBS rankings (although better this year) only go down to #150. I am considering putting them in alphabetical order to make it more of a challenge but I fear that'll cause a mutiny.

will be interesting to hear the media perspective on the Vikings draft class, after appearing to make a number of huge reaches for players all having last names starting with ‘A’s.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 6:50 pmWe've traditionally used either the CBS Sports prospect rankings (even that one year where they were ridiculous) or draftscout. I figure I'll play it close to reality and offer up Orlando Brown for trade. Any of you guys want a 24-year-old franchise LT? Hit me up and I'll be gentle (or freaky if you want).
Tiny hands, smaller heart.
Iggles will take calls about pick #6.

The Draft is (unofficially) open. Whenever @cop1211 is awake (night shift), he is free to make the first pick. No running clock until tomorrow.

Already got a trade in the books:
DP39 and the Colts have given their 2nd and 4th round picks to the Ravens in exchange for Orlando Brown Jr. and the Ravens 6th round pick. Colts get their franchise LT replacing Castonzo.

I wouldn't expect anything less than a "better deal" from the real Steelers FO.....Now, that new GM they got this year?.....I hear he's a real ballbuster!bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 9:50 pmAnd the Steelers will make you a better deal for pick 24
I heard he might even make a "better deal" with someone, for them to move up to pick #24, to draft a certain player, and then turnaround and tell the GMs) in pick #21 (and 22 or 23) who you're picking, so they can grab him.

Well, that is one thing I do better than the Steelers real braintrust. Anybody who guesses right wins a prize. And I caution you: I put only slivers of info and disinfo... always considering the potential effect of what I'm saying. It is so tempting to talk about prospects candidly. I'll have a lot to get off my chest in 3 weeks! It'll be like Festivus.DP39 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 11:00 pmI wouldn't expect anything less than a "better deal" from the real Steelers FO.....Now, that new GM they got this year?.....I hear he's a real ballbuster!bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 9:50 pmAnd the Steelers will make you a better deal for pick 24

I'm with FC with Wilson > Lawrence. I can't put my finger on it, but I just can't go all in on Lawrence. There's just something missing when I watch him play. Wilson could bust but I believe he flashes more unique/elite traits.

Well, I', the one who edited that bit in there about Zach Wilson being the best QB in the class. I hear you about Lawrence. He's like a QB machine in a futuristic movie where he looks invincible until he plays a team of united humans.

I was sold on Wilson around Christmas time...Mentioned he may be on the Steelers radar.
And then....He started flying up boards.
You cant coach accurate and ball placement.
Arm Strength is good not great
He checks every box
Injuries are a concern

@FC it’s the anticipation throws. He’s wayyyyy ahead in that regard. He’s also just a playmaking stud under pressure—stuff you can’t coach.
