What Happened to the Steelers Run Defense in 3rd Quarter?
Good article with video evidence to support the conclusions:

Good summation. DL should be up there on the draft needs chart for the next year or three. Sadly, that goes along with QB, OL, CB, finally finding a decent all around ILB, some help at SS, RB depth, WR, and TE depth. Yikes.
If Miller pans out, you can push WR down the list. He needs some practice during the bye, and definitely the Ray Ray snaps per game after.
I'd be looking to mix in Buddy Johnson to see what we have there, as well. Same reasoning at a more dire position of need.
Hope for some continued development out of the OL, but there's going to need to be capital invested there, draft or FA-wise.
Outside the organization is probably the best bet at CB, too. Either FA or maybe see what they gave up the pick for with Witherspoon after the bye, as well.
Can we pull Karl Joseph off the scrap heap at SS? Again, hopefully see what we have there, too.
If three of those in-house solutions pan out (probably wishful thinking) and they're smart in the draft and FA, the ship could be righted at most of the positions. Quality RB depth is not in the building right now. QB is going to have to be addressed, probably in the draft, and if we keep the non-losing streak alive, it's going to cost us.

I think ILB and SS are absolute must draft 1 and 2
The Steelers are not a good team or organization
They forced Troy Polamalu out after 2014 in favor of Will Allen and then Sean Davis etc etc
They haven’t had a weak side ILB worth a damn since 2017 when Shazier went down
After Vince Williams left strong side ILB has been horrible too
All this despite many draft picks trades and FAs
The Steelers 34 won’t work without premium talent at WILB and SS and there is zero chance they will be able to develop a supposedly “diamond in the rough” or continue to split the difference and hope to have success
Bush Spillane Schobert Edmunds etc etc etc all suck
They will never be effective in a Steelers 3-4
ILB and SS have to be 1 and 2
I’d like to see ILB Brandon Smith PSU and SS Jaquan Brisker PSU drafted 1 and 2

Excited for the internet to break when the Steelers draft ANOTHER ILB and ANOTHER safety that high, with that offensive line and DL, but I like the players.

I hated the Loudermilk pick when they made it but he did very well in the snaps he played. Classic 2-gap and did not get moved off the line.

I get that
But
As much as I’d like to throw more premium picks at the OL
Moore Dotson and Green deserve more time before we throw them out
Chuks/Banner at RT ? I can’t say I have much faith but RT and RG as well can be found late in the draft. At least on build and measurements at a minimum
Do I have faith in the Steelers to effectively do that ? No I do not but you gotta prioritize and WILB and SS absolutely need premium talent to work
DL I haven’t scouted much but last year there were 7th rounders and udfa who I felt were better suited than our backups

There is a premium to be paid, usually, for even backups who have an all around game at interior DL, and like the article stated, if you have late-round, one-trick ponies at those positions, you're going to be gashed one way or the other when injuries inevitably happen.

Coming out of the break they put up coaches blurbs.
Carrol: we’re going to run the ball to take pressure off Geno
Tomlin: they’re going to try to get the ball to Lockett and DK
Oh man swing and a miss, Mike

I wish we'd get more clarification with the Tuitt thing.
If that dude comes back even by week 10, that would be a huge boost to the defense.
Huge.
Hope it happens.

Troy is one of my favorite players but he needed to go. How many times late in his career did he get up looking woozy after a big hit? I was seriously worried he was going to get a bad head or neck injury. I'm glad they forced him out. It was the right move for that man that, like a great fighter, didn't know when to hang them up.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 11:25 amI think ILB and SS are absolute must draft 1 and 2

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
