SFPodcast: Steelers at Chargers Preivew

Post by bradshaw2ben » Fri Nov 19, 2021 3:44 pm

Wherein B2B loses his patience with the entire Steelers org, FC tries to be the voice of reason, and Jeremy has to fight to get his picks in... as per usual. Enjoy!

Good one, but you guys could have stopped at “clusterfuck”, because that’s what this thing is.

I want Tomlin and the crew gone.

Mason Rudolph had nothing to do with the fumble in Baltimore.

Rudolph got knocked unconscious by Earl Thomas in that game.

Duck Hodges was the QB when JuJu fumbled.

Two pedantic corrections:
- we tied Cleveland opening game of 2018
- you mixed up Ingram and Gordon again, b2b!

Great show all around.

JuJu had a massive game losing fumble VS the Saints with Ben Roethlisberger under center.

So……

……..I’ll guarantee Ben took no shit from anybody for JuJu’s fumble.

I guess JuJu was trying to do too much for his back up QB.

Players fumble trying to do too much with QB1s, too. We’ve seen it happen with Ben, also.

Also, Perch’s grotesque agism toward Pickett is disgusting. He should be ashamed of such blatant age discrimination. :P

Fair point about the Saints game. It just struck me that when guys feel like they have to do more than usual is when they get into trouble.

Either way, Mason Rudolph sucks, so the fumbles are just a distraction.

Mason made some bad plays and some good ones. Should have still come out of that game with a win.

Watt, Haden and Dotsons out vs. Chargers.

Really tempting to pick LAC in my must-win pool, but PIT is too jekyl-hyde. Besides the fact betting against PIT would destroy any enjoyment of watching the game (although, is that actually possible with this 2021 version?)

Would have been nice to have Melvin Ingram this game…

Watt missing games due to injury is a recipe for disaster, especially when the head coach would rather allow your all world EDGE rusher win the game instead of his soon to be HoF quarterback.

Besides, they're so capable of winning games where there is absolutely no reason to believe they will.

Basically, I'm not worried about Haden, Minkah and Watt means they can't simply play next man up... probably going to give up some points if they don't try some special game plan.

On the other hand, how many defensive guys are the Chargers missing? Is Ben going to squeak out getting cleared just in time? Hell, is Minkah?

i think this is one of those games where you might not know how this is going to go until:
A. you see who is starting at QB for the Steelers
B. you watch the first 5-10 minutes of the game

But you know they are going to play next man up….because that is what we do. You’ve been watching this team, and this coach, the last 15 years.

Lol, Jesus dude he didn't play as bad as Ben did those first few games of the season, and thank Christ, we would have lost for sure then.

He’s trolling. We will look back at R2R’s tenure on here as one of the most impressive wastes of time, maybe in message board history. That or he’s not watching the same games we are.

Obviously Ben is better than Mason, but let's not act like Ben played well early in the season. He didn't. He didn't do much vs a historically bad Seattle defense and a Bears team missing Khalil Mack. The refs handed us that game on a silver platter and Watt saved our asses at home vs Geno Smith. Oh and Ben also, in nearly every game, had a full compliment of weapons at his disposal. For instance, in the Bills game, Ben's 2 leading receivers were Claypool and JuJu. I didn't see either of those fellas on the field last Sunday.

Instead, Rudolph was forced to look for guys like Ray-Ray McCloud. He was one of the few dudes running open. In seriously shitty conditions.

Lotsa season left. Let's see how it goes. We'll all be watching closely I'm sure.

Ben full compliment of receivers couldn’t catch a 50/50 ball placed in their hands, his OL played about 100 times worse than it did vs Detroit, and Ben still managed to lead game-winning drives, move things along vs a tough Buffalo D… I know you’re gonna die on this Rudolph hill, but he may never play another down for the Steelers—or should I say MAY he never play another down for this team Amen.

TBH I don’t even know what KC is arguing anymore re: Mason vs. Ben. Regardless, that is a tremendous amount of typing for a guy that will be jettisoned so fast this off-season that his head will be spinning. I will celebrate the end of the Mason “era”.

Ben had a REALLY shitty start this season, and a REAL shitty last half of last season. Let's hope that one good drive he had against Chicago at the end is an indicator of him turning it around. I highly doubt it is though.

It's not about dying on any hill. These are the facts: Rudolph played on short notice in ultra-shitty weather conditions. Made some good plays and some bad. Had his team in a position to win the game twice and those chances were fumbled away. Fumbles happen in shitty weather conditions but gimme a break. By the way, I didn't see a single 50/50 ball caught by a Steelers receiver in that game last Sunday. Rudolph had a shit ton of help losing that game and it shouldn't have happened.

Rudolph most certainly could be done in Pittsburgh, although I'll be very surprised if Ben finishes this season in one piece as the o-line keeps losing players and Najee continues very likely headed towards a rookie wall. He's getting way too many carries.

Either way, the solution going forward at QB is most definitely not on the roster presently.

The only way that happens is if Rudolph gets another chance this season and has a really good game. A REALLY good game.

With our o-line, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see Mason again in 2021.
