A couple of things from Thursday injury report

It looks like Freiermuth cleared the concussion protocol because he was listed as a full participant. But 2 concussions in such a short period of time has me concerned for the man's health.

The other thing I am wondering about is practice was moved indoors because of wet weather. I would think you would want your players practicing in the elements to be prepared in the event it is still raining on Monday. Looking at the forecast, today was 6% precipitation and Monday it is at 12%?

Is the team trying to avoid injuries or getting sick? Or is this a sign of poor preparation? After all, come game time you can't move indoors.

Ummm the shit show they put on weekly is a sign enough of their poor preparation.

Especially the historically bad offense that apparently doesn’t watch film and build a game plan accordingly but rather uses the first half to figure out it’s plan for the day.

Fire them all…

With the Steelers playing Monday night this week, coach Mike Tomlin elected to stay on a normal routine of three practices while adding an extra day of mental prep in lieu of extra on-field work Wednesday.
This says it all to me. Extra day of “mental prep” vs actually getting better on the field.

I bet they come out sharp as a tack Monday night. Scoreboard going to look like a loose Vegas slot when the Steelers O and their extra day of “mental prep” hit the field.

And glad to hear Ben got his extra day of rest as well. Business as usual. Last home game and all but ya, better rest up.

For what???

His golf match down in Georgia?

Can’t wait till this team has competent coaches and players that actually give a fuck about what they “put on tape”

Way too rainy down here in GA for golf ‘95

But I share your sentiment about awaiting competent coaches and I’ll extend that to ownership.

I walked away from my beloved Pirates due to utter frustration and lack of hope stemming from ownership and to a lesser degree an uneven playing field in the sport in general

At least football has competitive balance but look at teams like the Lions, Jags, Browns, and Chargers with decades of horrible ownership.

Many examples of incompetent owners in the NFL, but can aloof be just as detrimental as incompetent?

Art2 to me accepted his role out of obligation to his family.
That’s pretty clear.

He isn’t Bob Nutting in terms of dollars and cents but he is Bob Nutting in that I really don’t think he gives a rip about winning and losing.

That’s a problem

Gotta get Rudolph his reps. He’s your QB next year.

Ben can do what he wants at this point. We likely aren’t making the playoffs and if we do we will be trounced.

If anything, it’s a reflection of how Tomlin runs this team.

This whole thing has me bummed out. It’s like, all of a sudden the media reports are swirling that this is Ben’s last home game. I dunno, count me as someone that held onto a hollow hope that Ben would kick some ass this year down the stretch and bring it back next year for one more go.

But that isn’t happening. He’s fielding questions left and right about his career, his legacy, the game on Monday. It really is coming to an end.

How fitting is it that a tie to the Detroit Lions is likely the game that will keep us from the dance. Once last run at the post season with Ben.

Instead we get the Browns loss last year as the lasting memory of Ben playing in the post season. Man is that depressing. Mike Tomlin is a fucking joke. The dude wasted the last 10 years of a HoF career because he couldn’t coach, couldn’t rah-rah enough, and couldn’t build a legit defense to help #7 achieve what he is capable of achieving.

My only hope is that the Rooney’s tie the end of Ben’s career with the end of Tomlin’s career in Pittsburgh. They are weird like that; they are “old school” as Ritchie Aprille says in The Sopranos.

We need the Steelers to be modernized. It ain’t happening with Ben or Tomlin. The end of an era for sure.

 I'm just curious if this is normal and other teams do the same? Is it something the NFLPA negotiated? It just seems to be a bit weak not to practice in the elements and NOT Steeleresque football.

The owner coach relationship is part of the problem. Tomlin is a bit too appreciative of Rooney. Cowher created tension with Dan and the GM and forced them to do better. There is no tension in the TomBertNey triangle and that is a major part of why there is mediocrity in the organization.

All three are the problem, and all three are content with business as usual. No tension to push the organization in a new direction to the outside observer. If there was tension, someone would leak it, because that is how you get change and make a power move.

I was thinking about bringing this up about Colbert. He is the only one not being blamed when it is all three that are the reason the Steelers are in this situation.

Ya. Same out my way too. Between work & the weather I haven’t played in over a month now.

Bill for club dues still comes in the mail though.

And I was really referring to next year. What the hell is Ben “resting” for?

Guy has two games left.

Business as usual. This team isn’t fighting for the playoffs. They are playing out the string as is Ben.

If I were him I’d be embarrassed by the first half performances and constant slop & slather on O.

I doubt there is anything about it in the CBA, but I’d guess very few, if any NFL teams practice in poor weather. It’s just the way it is….
