The Pittsburgh Steelers believe star pass-rusher and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt suffered a torn pectoral during Sunday's 23-20 overtime win against the Bengals in Cincinnati, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Watt is scheduled to undergo scans Monday to confirm diagnosis, the source said.

Football is a violent game
Injuries…even season ending ones….can happen to any player on any play
Torn ACLs and epidemic at all levels of football
However as I’ve said before genetics is undefeated
Like brother JJ, injures becoming a trend with TJ
I appreciate the all out hustle that can certainly lead to injury but these soft tissue injuries seem more related to overtraining and consuming gawd knows what supplements year after year to get those big muscles
Those ripped physiques just not translating to staying healthy on the football field for the Watt brothers and fellow body builders like Christian McCaffery
Get well soon TJ
Hopefully I’m wrong and not on same injury riddled path as brother JJ
Go Najee
Go Kenny
Go Steelers

Seems unlikely, but maybe the MRI will have less than terrible news.

I looked it up. In 2019 JJ tore his pec in week 8. He returned for the Texans wild card playoff game.

I don’t think of TJ as a freak weight lifter. I am sure he does lift a bunch though. I think this is a technique injury. Aaron Smith, Heyward, JJ….it most likely has to do with swim techniques putting the muscle in a strained position at a moment of significant force.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 10:53 pmFootball is a violent game

Heyward healed and has improved ever since. Maybe he adjusted his technique.
If I had to guess from my power recliner, I’d say it has to do with getting the arms above breast level during swim techniques. The higher the arms get the more stress.

How big was that Reed trade?
I mean this defense is still very good with Watt out. But the offense can’t hide in the shadows anymore.
Mitch gets one more go then it’s Kenny time. Fuck it, we’ll do it live!

That depends. Are they still running out #55 or a traffic cone?Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 11:48 pmHow big was that Reed trade?

Can we ever just win and enjoy it. Fucking maddening. Every game, even wins, are soul sucking battles to the death. My God, all they needed was one 1st down after the 4th down stop. What do they do? Offensive Line gets Najeh killed, happy feet misses a pass, run 16 seconds off the clock, setting up the drive where our best player is injured probably for the season.
Just so stupid.

That was such a weird sequence. The Najeh injury was a free TO, then we throw the ball stupidly, another free TO.rooneytunes wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 12:15 amCan we ever just win and enjoy it. Glad they won. Offense obviously has a ton of work to do.
Hoping we can be in the mix and maybe get TJ back by mid December.
Defense on the field for almost 44 minutes....
We are lucky we did not lose more guys.
Always tuff getting out of week 1 without major injuries...
Being first full speed, heavy load game for players.
Our Offense can not keep punishing our defense

Can’t trade Claypool now. He’s our entire run game

I kept thinking surely they aren’t going to hand off to Claypool again.
And yet….
Q2 on back to back plays...
Watt beats the block gets into the backfield blows up the play destroys the ball carrier.
Watt makes the great athletic play to pull down the interception.
He single-handedly stopped their drive. We take over at our 41 and go on our lone TD drive in the game.
We might have gotten peak Watt this year. A little more dominant even than last year. Huge blow with the injury.

I don't see the team going to Kenny on the short week against Cleveland on a Thursday night. Call me crazy. The following week against NYJ with 10 days to prepare maybe but I doubt that as well.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 11:48 pmHow big was that Reed trade?

I’m not opposed to them riding with Mitch a few more weeks to see if he can get into more of a groove. Cincy is a very good team and Mitch made a few plays. It’s the bad reads, bad technique and poor pocket presence that needs to change now.stillthere wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 5:27 pmI don't see the team going to Kenny on the short week against Cleveland on a Thursday night. NE lacks some talent but they are (of course) coached exceptionally well. Mitch needs to show up this week in front of the home crowd. I look forward to it.

A - it was working for yards so I am not going to complain about it.
B - For the next few weeks every time Claypool goes into motion behind the line the entire defense is gonna think he is going to get the ball and that should help allow for players to run deeper & longer routes.
